Age sixteen. One year before the first episode of Teen Wolf.
Amy is at a Halloween party with her best friend, Ally Smith. Amy and Ally have been best friends ever since the two were five and met in preschool. They have been each other's rock and person and all of that good stuff.
"This is a bad idea," Amy giggles as she and Ally go to drive home, drunk. "I should" *hiccup* "I should call my mom."
"No, you should not," Ally says. "She'll be mad you're drunk! We..." she cuts herself off by giggling. "We said there would be no alcohol."
"Or drugs," Amy says, remembering Ally doing a line of cocaine with a few seniors.
Ally winks at her best friend and the girls get into the car. Amy turns the car on and she shakes off her blurred vision only for it to come back later when headlights shine into the car. The last thing Amaryllis hears are her and Ally's screams.
~...............~Melissa is at home with Scott and Scott's best friend, Stiles, when the phone rings. The mother drops the basket of clean laundry on the coffee table and she walks across the living room and to the kitchen to answer it.
"McCall residence, this is Melissa," Melissa says into the phone.
"Hey, Melissa," the familiar voice of Connie Baker, Melissa's coworker, says. "You need to get to the hospital. Your daughter and her friend Allyson Cosmo were just in a pretty bad car accident."
Melissa hangs up. "Scott, we gotta go. Amy's in the hospital. Stiles, wanna ride or want me to drop you off at home?"
"Drop me off at home," Stiles replies.
"You got it."
~...............|...............~"Mom?" Amy speaks shakily when she wakes up.
"Hey, babe," Melissa coos. "You okay?"
"What's broken?"
"Your left leg is broke and they had to replace your right knee because it shattered," Melissa says. "Your left wrist is fractured. Your right arm and collar bone are broken."
"What - what about Ally?" Amy asks and her face falls when she sees the dad look in Melissa's eyes. "No..." she whispers. "No!" She starts to cry and Melissa quickly tries to soothe her so she doesn't hurt herself.
~............|............~Melissa steps outside of the hospital when Amy falls asleep and she calls Deucalion. She does have his number saved because of the adoption being open.
"Hello, Mel," Deucalion greets as he looks at his pack of Alphas.
"Amaryllis was in a car accident," Melissa says.
Deucalion walks outside of where he is. "Is she okay?"
"Her left leg, right arm, and right collar bone are broken," Melissa replies. "Her right knee was shattered and they had to replace it. Her left wrist is fractured. But she was drunk and her best friend was in the car. Her friend didn't make it."
"Who was driving?" Deucalion asks and Melissa doesn't answer. "Who was driving the car, Melissa?"
"Amy was," Melissa admits. "Amaryllis was driving the car."
Deucalion closes his eyes. Her eyes would have been electric blue as a werewolf anyway because she's a Goddess but now they'll be electric green. Her innocence. "Guess she is not quite innocent anymore, is she?" He frowns. "I was hoping for the opposite."
"You and me both," Melissa replies.
"Thank you for letting me know, Melissa, but I am kinda busy," says Deucalion. "Keep me updated, though."
Melissa foes back inside to her daughter.
