(Amy will only be mentioned in this chapter but she won't be in it. She's in the Underworld with Derek.)
"They were there for two days,' Cora says in the Hale loft. "That's what we were taught to do when the hunters find us -- hide and heal."
"Okay, so is two days standard, then, or are we thinking Derek's on some extended getaway?"
Amy and Cora know exactly where Derek is. He's in the Underworld for a little while talking to Hades, getting help from him. He's been gone for two days. The same goes for Boyd. Boyd is getting close with Aphrodite in the heavens. While Amy is graduating the police academy early before she goes to check on Derek in the Underworld.
"Why do you care?" Cora asks.
"Why do I care?" Stiles repeats. "Let's see-- because over the last few weeks, my best friend tried to kill himself; his boss nearly got ritually sacrificed; a girl I've known since I was three was ritually sacrificed; Boyd was killed by alphas, brought back by a badass hybrid, and now resides with the Gods and Goddesses in the heavens... do you want me to keep going? 'Cause I can, all right? For, like, an hour."
"You think Derek can do anything about that?" Cora asks as she walks around the table and away from the large window.
"Well, since he's the one everyone seems to be after, it's more like he should do something about it, yeah," Scott replies.
"I don't know," Cora says. "There's something different about him now and it's not because of Amy. He wasn't like this when we knew him."
"What was he like?" Stiles asks.
Peter comes walking down the steps. He just got done texting Amy as she gets ready to go to the Underworld. Cora and Stiles turn their head to look at the eldest Hale as he makes himself known.
"A lot like Scott, actually," Peter claims. He comes the rest of the way down the stairs. "A lot like most teenagers -- unbearably romantic, profoundly narcissistic, tolerable really only to others teenagers." He approaches the table where Cora and Stiles are.
"So what happened to him?" Stiles asks. "What changed him?"
"Well, the same thing that changes a lot of young men..." Peter says. "A girl."
"You're telling me that some girl broke his little heart?" Stiles asks. He's glad Amy's not here or she'd hit him for the bitter tone he's using. "That's why Derek is the way he is?"
"Do you remember Derek before he was an alpha... had blue eyes?" Peter asks as he looks between his niece and Stiles. "Do you know why some wolves have blue eyes, or green if you think of Amy?"
"I just always thought it was, like, a genetic thing," Stiles says. "And with Amy, I thought it was because of her Goddess half."
"Part of hers is because of that side... her eyes were supposed to be blue regardless but then that accident with Ally happened that one Halloween night and then... they were green when she shifted," Peter says.
"How do you know that?"
"Zeusa, Amy's mother, was my best friend back in school and throughout it," Peter admits. "She was already pregnant with Amy at the time."
"Back to Derek," Stiles says when he learns more about Amy's past.
"If you want to know what changed Derek," Peter says, "you need to know what changed the color of his eyes."
He doesn't need Amy here for this because she already knows all about it. Derek opened up to her and he's telling her the rest while in the Underworld.
