The rest of the day went by pretty smoothly, and thankfully I hadn't been late to my first lesson of the day after my run in with the idiots earlier. That definitely wouldn't have looked good if I was late on my second day of school. I had even managed to bring a packed lunch with me, it was only some leftover pasta that I had cooked last night drowned in tomato ketchup, but it was enough to keep my belly full. A full me was a happy me.The good day had ended with a thud though. I had been browsing the bookshelves in the local library, debating which ones I should put in my open backpack and which ones I should put back on the shelf, when I felt a presence trying to sneak up behind me. I say trying because they really weren't very successful at treading lightly, even if I didn't have better hearing than the average person I probably still would have heard him.
I rolled my eyes as I caught a familiar scent and turned around with my arms crossed just in time to come face to face with the guy who keeps harassing me from school. "Are you lost?" I asked with raised eyebrows as I made a show of looking at my surroundings. "I wasn't aware that your kind even knew where a library was."
The guy visibly deflated when he realised he couldn't sneak up on me and I chuckled slightly at his childish antics. He recovered himself quickly though and shifted his down turned frown into a cocky smirk within a blink of an eye, his green and brown eyes twinkling with amusement as he looked me up and down.
"I was just wondering if you needed any help smuggling any more books out of here?" he smirked as his eyes briefly glanced down to my open backpack, or more accurately the three books I'd already stashed in there for me to take home.
My palms instantly began to sweat and I could feel a little colour appearing on my usually pale cheeks. I hated my body's reaction to him, or more accurately what he was saying, it always did that whenever I felt embarrassed or angry and this time I was definitely both. I wasn't angry at him, more at myself for not noticing that he had watched me do it, but I let the anger bubble to the surface as I stared the guy down. I did not need him drawing any attention to me.
"And how do you know I wasn't going to check these books out with my library card after I was done selecting them?" I countered as I popped my hip and rested my shoulder on a nearby shelving unit, making sure to keep my voice low so we couldn't be heard by any surrounding people.
"I know because your eyes have been shifting to the reception desk ever since you stepped foot in this place, making sure that they weren't looking at you when you dropped your old books off and picked up a few new ones," he laughed, his cockyess never fading.
"So you've been watching me this whole time? That's pretty creepy," I commented as I raised my eyebrows at him, feeling a little uneasy that I'd apparently had his undivided attention for a while now and I hadn't noticed.
"What can I say," he shrugged as he ran his hands through his hair before leaning back into the shelving unit across from me. "I enjoy a good view."
"Ugh really?" I exclaimed as I rolled my eyes at his cheesy pick up line. "And that line actually works for you?" I questioned as I put the book I had been debating on getting back on the shelf, I could always read it next week.
"Yeah... sometimes," he shrugged with that annoying smirk still plastered on his face, I just wanted to reach over and smack him stupid until he was no longer smiling.
"Charming," I rolled my eyes as I adjusted my backpack so that I could buckle up my backpack and hide the books from the camera at the front door. The last thing I needed was for my face to be brought to the police for borrowing a few library books. "Well I'd like to say this has been fun but... it really hasn't," I shrugged as I looked up into his slightly stunned eyes before offering him an overly sweet smile and turned around to make my way out of the front door, offering the lady behind the desk a small smile as I did.
