Chapter 40

After everyone except for me, Lew, and Xman had left, we started walking back to my apartment. Their parents let them stay the night over here because they explained to their parents what happened and they trust all of us. So we went back and we watched a movie. Around 6 in the afternoon my phone started ringing again. I pulled it out of my pocket and it was my gramma jan.

Me: hey gramma
Gramma: hey sweetie. I am moving down to Florida with everyone else and your mom told me you were left at the apartment alone so I thought I would leave Miya there with you. Is that ok with you? I can bring over all of her stuff for you if you are ok with keeping her.
Me: yea I'm ok with keeping her. When will you be bringing her over?
Gramma: I'll have to pack up her stuff then I'll be right over.
Me: ok. Love you. See you soon.

Then, she hung up on me.

"Hey guys, my gramma is gonna be here soon to drop off Miya. I am going to be keeping Miya so my gramma can move to Florida." I told the guys.

"Oh I'm sorry baby." Lew said.

"I'm sorry buddy" Xman said.

"It's ok" I told them.

*about 10 minutes later*

There was a knock at the door while I was showing the boys where they were going to be sleeping. I told them I would be right back and I ran to the door to open it. When I opened it I saw that it was my gramma.

"Hey gramma." I said as I grabbed a bag from her hands. She stepped into the room and I closed the door and Lew and Xman walked into the room. Lew took Miya's leash and Xman took the rest of Miya's stuff that I didn't grab. Me and Xman put Miya's stuff onto the kitchen table, Lew found that Miya stopped barking as much if he held her so he was holding her for a while until she calmed down. My gramma have me and Lew a hug then she turned around and walked outside.

"Well I guess that's it. Let's set up her stuff." I said. With that, me and Lew put water and of in her bowl while Xman put her doggie bed in the corner of the living room and he put her toys around it. I went over to her stuff and I put the bag of her food and treats under the sink.

The boys were so nice and helpful. I am so glad that Lew is my boyfriend and that Xman is my friend. They are the best.

"I love you baby. And I'm sorry that you have to live alone like this." Lew said to me. He walked over to me and wrapped me up in his arms.

"I love you too boo. And it's ok. As long as I have my boyfriend and my best friend that are here for me I'm all good." I said as I smiled and rested my head against his chest. Xman just sat down and put another movie in. Miya ran and jumped onto his lap and she curled up and she fell asleep on his lap.

All of the sudden my phone rings again. It's an unknown number, but it says it's from South Bend, Indiana. I excuse myself and I go out onto the deck to answer it.

Me: hello?
Him: hey Heather. I heard you are there alone and that you probably need a job?
Me: Jim?
Him: yes it's me, Jim, your mom called me and told me that she left you home alone and that you might need money. Also she said that your money that I paid you the first time is in the bank in your room. But do you want to have a job? I can come here to pick you up every morning for work and you can help me with my job.
Me: umm... Sure. But what about school?
Him: I can call the school and tell them that you are coming to work with me and that you will be there for the first 2 hours then you will be with me until lunch then after lunch I'll pick you up for work again. Deal?
Me: that sounds great! Thanks Jim.
Him: your welcome Heather. I have to go now because I have to put abbey to bed. Good bye. I will see you Monday for work.
Me: ok. Good bye.

And I hung up. I was so excited I ran back into the living room.

"What happened? Who was that?" Lew asked me.

"It was my moms friend Jim. He offered me a job and I said yes. I'm not going to be at school very much anymore. He said I will be there for the first 2 hours of school then he will pick me up, then I'll be at school for lunch then he will pick me up. That will be my regular schedule now." I told them.

"Oh." Lew said.
