Baron Draxum surveyed the lair, which was suspiciously empty. No skateboard sounds, no cooking sounds, no explosions from the lab. No TV, which was weird because the TV was always, always, making noises. Draxum lifted a brow in confusion and carefully entered the lair further. Something was off, but the goat Yokai didn't quite know what it was. His experiments were nowhere to be found, nor was anyone else.

"They're not here?" Huginn wondered.

"Shut up," Draxum growled.

The Gargoyle shut up with a pout on his face. Draxum carefully searched every inch of the lair for some sign of the turtles. There was none. What he did find, however, was blood, destroyed walls and décor, and a single katana laying innocently on the floor.

"Is that-?" Huginn began, but cut himself off, ears going flat as he realized he was supposed to keep quiet.

"Yes," Draxum replied, picking up the sword to examine it.

It sparked with Mystic energy in his hands and seemed to want to go somewhere. Huginn whimpered and flew from Draxum's shoulder to find his friend, unable to keep himself in the creepy, empty lair. Draxum rolled his eyes and examined the sword some more. It wanted to be with its twin, but its twin was nowhere near. He frowned.

"Where have you gone?" he questioned, curiously looking for the entryway of the portal.

He slashed the sword through the air and a rift opened, the colors swirling in blue and pink. Draxum knew that was wrong. These swords were only supposed to make blue portals, nothing pink should be inside them. He tilted his head in confusion and looked over his shoulder for Huginn and Muninn. They were cowering by the entrance and he motioned them closer. Hesitantly, the two Gargoyles flew closer until they were perched on his shoulder pads once more.

"We are going through," Draxum declared.

"But shouldn't we-" Muninn started.

Draxum shushed him and stepped into the portal, letting himself be taken to wherever his surrogate sons were now. He had vowed not to let them face any more threats alone, and he would keep that promise. When he'd stepped through, the portal disappeared in a puff, leaving behind only emptiness. Emptiness and blood on the floor.

OOO

When Mikey awoke the only thing he could feel was pain. Burning, intense pain. It licked up his plastron, over his neck, towards his face where it burned the brightest. Something was holding him down and Mikey realized he was screaming. His throat was raw and painful and the scream sounded hoarse. But he kept it up until the pain faded just a little.

A deep breath had his ears clearing and Mikey realized the sound of New York surrounded him. Somebody else was breathing loudly and Mikey thought he heard the sound of sniffling. He groaned lowly and flickered his eyes open, curious and in pain.

"Mikey?"

April's voice filled the void and Mikey blinked several times to see her come into focus. Her beautiful dark skin was stained with blood and Mikey wondered why that was until he remembered the Shredder. The pain from his chest laced up again and the young turtle arched his back, though hands held him down.

"Calm down, Mikey," April said, panic in her voice. "You're okay," she added.

Mikey didn't believe her, and it seemed she didn't believe herself because she started to sniffle again. Tears poured from her eyes and she wiped them away with her sleeve. Mayhem popped up next to her, seemingly defeated.

"You didn't find any of them?" April asked the dog-like Yokai.

Mayhem shook his little head and poofed away again, continuing whatever search he was on. Mikey wanted to ask April what Mayhem was looking for, but exhaustion suddenly crept up his body and his eyes fluttered closed again.
