The darkness around Donnie was blissfully empty. The screaming inside his head had stopped for a few moments and he could finally think. He was tired, muscles aching and his head pounding.
There was something he needed to do. Something he had been doing, but he couldn't remember. He couldn't remember. Donnie brought up a hand to rub his fingers against his temples, trying to ease the pounding in his head.
It did not help. The darkness was also still very much present.
Wait, what? Darkness didn't have a presence. Donnie whipped his head around to stare at a pair of eyes that looked hauntingly familiar. He quickly backed up, but tripped over his own feet and fell down with a yelp, staring at his own image with a scared look on his face.
The person before him was Donnie himself, but darkly colored and not at all bright as Donnie saw himself. The purple of his gear was almost black and his green skin was just as dark. Only his eyes seemed to exude any color, the yellow sclerae very bright in the darkness.
"Who-" Donnie began, but cut himself off. "No," he said instead. "You're me."
It wasn't a question, and his other self smirked. The darkness around him seemed to swirl and form his body. Donnie didn't want to admit it, but he was scared. He had no idea how he'd gotten here or who this other him was. He knew one thing though, he needed out of here.
"Oh, no," his other self said, seeming to know what he was thinking. "You're not going anywhere."
His words seemed to have power, for the dark tendrils around Dark Donnie - it was easier to call his other self that in his mind - started to move towards Donnie and wrap around his wrists and ankles. Donnie struggled, but the tendrils were strong and he was pulled forward and up, face to-face with his dark self.
"You're never getting out of here," Dark Donnie snarled, a smirk on his face.
Donnie grunted and struggled, but it was in vain, and the darkness pushed on him, restricting his breathing, and suffocating him slowly. Donnie felt consciousness slip away from him. But he refused to go, not yet.
"My brothers will come for me," he said, convinced.
He knew Leo would come up with a plan, Mikey would razzmatazz, and Raph would smash anything in his way to get to Donnie. Cass would blow some shit up and April would smack some evil bots with her mystic bat. SHELLDON would most definitely blow some shit up because that was what the little drone liked best, and Donnie had made sure to give him instructions before the last of his consciousness was stripped away. SHELLDON knew what to do if nothing else worked, he had his orders.
Dark Donnie chuckled. "You think they can defeat me?" he cackled.
"Scoff, I know they will," Donnie grinned, though breathing was becoming increasingly more difficult.
Dark Donnie furrowed his drawn-on brows and seemed angry at that statement. He stepped away from Donnie, letting the other fall to the jelly-like floor. It began to suck Donnie up, encasing him in a dark, liquid cold.
"You don't know anything," Dark Donnie said, disappearing from his view. "Your brothers will never defeat me, and you will never again be free to see them."
Donnie felt fear grab his heart because he knew how smart he was, and if the darkness inside of him had taken over, his brothers had very little chance. Only if they came up with something very good, if they had allies Donnie didn't know about, if they gained new powers or knowledge, only then could they defeat him. And Donnie highly doubted any of that had happened.
"Chances of success: 0,0000000000000.1 percent," Donnie whispered before darkness swallowed him.
