chapter three:
the left knight
─────────────────

THE NEXT MORROW, Ellyra awoke with a pounding headache in an unknown room sleeping next to Aegon. Pushing him slightly only caused him to groan. With a sigh the princess rubbed her face and stretched her aching bones.

"Good you're awake. I suggest you hurry along, Daemon will be looking for you. He would not be pleased to see you with him," Mysaria's thick accent broke the silence of the room.

Smirking, Ellyra knew it had to have been the white worm who took them in. She had always been fond of the princess during their time together.

Moons ago had passed since they spent time together in the Dragonstone castle. Though, Ellyra could reminisce it as though it happened the other night. Daemon had put on quite the show at hearing his niece Rhaenyra would succeed the throne instead of him. During those few months of her father's temper tantrum, Mysaria had truly cared for Ellyra. The white worm took upon the role of becoming a step mother to her. Even with the marriage with Daemon falling through, one thing that did not falter was Mysaria's love for the princess.

"Drink this," Mysaria held out a cup full of a muddy substance. Ellyra's face twisted in disgust when the smell filled her senses, but knew better than to argue once she witnessed the white worm's eye quirk.

Taking a deep breath the princess prepared herself for the vile taste.

She downed the entire cup in two regrettable gulps.

"Ugh," Ellyra shivered at the taste.

"Wake him and leave through the back. Daemon will know to check here first."

"I cannot wake him," Ellyra stood feeling her clouded head slightly ease from the tonic. Without hesitation, Mysaria grabbed the jug next to the table and threw the cold water onto Aegon. He quickly awoke gasping slightly from the suddenness of it all.

"Hurry, he will be here soon," Mysaria rushed the two children towards the back. Ellyra was forced to help Aegon who still felt the grogginess from all the alcohol they consumed the night before. She pulled his cloak onto him properly, ensuring the hood covered all of his silver hair.

"Ellyra," Aegon moaned out feeling sick from all the alcohol.

"It's okay Aegon, I'm going to take care you. Just hold on a little while longer for me okay?" Ellyra tried to soothe him.

She knew he needed a tonic or even to vomit considering Aegon consumed more than he could handle.

To her words, he only whined while they made their way to the back.

"Where is she?" Daemon's voice echoed through the corridors making the princesses quicken her pace. Ellyra quickly pushed through the back door before rushing them to a back alley.
