The Wound in My Side

I shot up in bed, bandages wrapping my arms and my side. I felt a shot through my side and I winced. "Crud!" I yelled, holding onto my side. It was excruciating, but I'm simply glad I survived. I looked around the room and sighed. 'Leyroye got to us... I don't know how long I'll be able to keep all this assassin business a secret...' I thought to myself, throwing myself down on the bed with a 'thud'. I let out a long sigh as laid on the bed. 'That was fun. I hope I don't get another scar from this garbage.' I thought, holding onto my arm. I heard a knock on the door and I whipped around. It creaked open and a couple of chess piece guards poured into the room. "Hello YN-sama! Glad to see you're up!" One of them said, smiling at me. I turned my head. "Hi guys... How long have I been out for?" I asked, looking down at the bedsheets. "Ah... Thirty-six hours. Perospero-sama just left about three hours ago if you were wondering." He spoke. A light blush went across my face. 'He waited for me that long?' I thought, smiling a little. "We're glad you're up and awake and all, but it's almost time for dinner, and you know how Mama reacts when you're late!" He explained. I nodded. "Ok then, guess I'll see if I can get up after being in a coma for a good day and a half." I chided. I slowly moved to get up, throwing my feet off the side of the bed and pushing myself off, the wound in my side throwing a sharp pain through my body. I winced, grabbing tight to my side. The chess piece guards all swarmed around me. "YN-sama!" They yelled in unison, staring at me. "I'm ok! Back off!" I yelled, still holding onto my side.

I looked down at what I was wearing. A t-shirt and some plain, black, exercise pants. 'Who in the world thought this was a good idea? I've never seen this t-shirt before, either...' I thought, pulling at the fabric a little. I pushed open the door and slowly began to tumble-walk towards the kitchen, trying to keep myself upright. After probably ten minutes of waltzing through the hall, I arrived at the wide open door. I heard the talking of the people inside and I smiled at the thought of being able to talk to someone. The moment I stepped into the room, the everyone went quiet. I waved "Hello!" to everyone and I heard Cracker laugh. "Dang! She's up!" He yelled, smiling wide. A loud cheer came over the dining room and Amande came rushing over. "YN! I heard about what happened from brother Peros..." She said, looking down. "And I thought you just wished death on me now, haha." I corrected. Amande shook her head. "If you didn't have a change of heart, YN, you would've let that man kill my brother. I appreciate you keeping him safe." She said, a slight smile on her face. I nodded. "It's no problem. Don't want to get you guys caught up in my trouble." I said, shrugging my shoulders. Amande nodded. "That's honorable of you." She said, turning and going back towards her seat at the table.

The moment she left, I was lifted up off the ground. "YN! I'm so glad you're safe." Perospero said, holding me tight. I chuckled a little. "I'm glad I'm ok, too, but please be careful with the injury." I said, putting my arms around his neck. He nodded, then looked at his hand to make sure he wasn't holding the wound. "Well well! Look at the lovebirds!" Big Mom yelled as she walked into the room. Perospero whipped around, still holding me up to his chest. "I assume you've figured out who you want to marry then?" She asked me, leaning down to look at me and Perospero. I chuckled a little. "Well, isn't it obvious, ma'am?" I asked as Perospero sat me down in the presence of his mother. "Mama, I know you probably wanted one of my other brothers to marry her, but-" "I wasn't expecting any more! I was slightly suspicious when you two came in arguing, but I suspected that this would end the way it did!" She boomed, throwing her hands up. Perospero's face flushed at the comment. "We have about a week until the wedding, then! Better prepare yourselves!" She said. The entire room went up in a cheer again, and Perospero pulled me back into his chest. "I hope it's all OK with you, YN." He said, a nervous smile on his face. I nodded. "It's what I'd want, of course." I said, leaning onto Perospero. He chuckled and picked me up again. "I forgot you were injured for a minute, darling. Don't overwork yourself." He said softly. I smiled up at him. "Alright, Peros." I muttered as he held me in his arms.

He sat me down in my chair and he sat down next to me. The guards brought out the food and we began to eat, although the table, unlike normal, was silent today. 'I guess no one's got anything to talk about... other than me getting stabbed I guess.' I thought, leaning on my hand. Cracker, from across the table, cleared his throat and waved to me. "You want some bread, YN?" He asked, holding a chunk of bread in his hand. "Ah... No thanks." I muttered, stabbing another potato on my plate with my fork. "I know it's unusual, the fact it's pretty quiet, you've been the talk of the family recently, as I believe you knew." Katakuri piped up from the other end of the table. I nodded. "Yeah, right... Thanks." I said, trying to ignore the amount of awkwardness. "Do you guys not have anything else to talk about?" Cracker asked, turning his head. "She's clearly alive, so we don't gotta worry about that." He claimed, stuffing more bread into his mouth. Amande nodded. "Anything happen on your islands recently?" She asked, which caused everyone at the table begin to talk to each other. I chuckled a little, then held up a thumbs up to Amande, and she returned it.

Once dinner was over, Perospero turned to me. "Are you alright enough to sleep in my room again tonight? I don't have any explanation but-" "Oh yeah, if you think I'm letting you be by yourself for a minute you're dead wrong." I said, smiling at him. He chuckled a little. "Alright darling. I assume you're off now to help the maids?" He asked, smiling at me. I shook my head. "I just want to spend time with you right now, honestly." I muttered, a little flustered. He let out a chuckle. "Alright, YN, but let's not go wander the town this time." He said, smiling at me. I chuckled at him. "Well, I think that sounds smart." I spoke.
