One week later.
Monday..The pair hadn't been amongst the other since the incident. No exchanged looks, breaths or even words. After it all happened, Layla was too embarrassed to step back into that hellhole as everyone had seen her make a fool of herself, but she figured if not now, when? She can't hide forever. So, she made an appearance the
following Tuesday, it took people till break to get over it until it was another girl being targeted.Layla has had Elle and Amy following her around all week. Elle with actual concern whereas Amy won't stop asking Layla nonsense questions about boys. Eventually Layla managed to get away from them for a bit in the toilet stall, where she found herself thinking about Red, and how much she already misses her presence. Her silence around Layla spoke so much more than words could. And when they would exchange the odd few words, they would be the most meaningful ones.
Oh how Layla wishes Red weren't the way she was. Layla has found herself caring for the girl. Truly. And honestly. But to find such a thing out, no matter who you are, it will at least cut you a tiny bit. Whereas for Layla, it hurts so much to know someone that she actually started to care for had done such a thing, and was aware of it the entire time and simply said nothing, allowing it to continue by contributing to it constantly. Layla feels lucky to not have Red show up for a week, because she fears that if she sees that face of her's she might just punch her.
Keegan. Keegan hadn't even acknowledged Layla's presence, his mates looked at Layla more than he had the past week. Completely walking past her like she is nothing, she would see him laughing and playfully talking, reminding her it was all a set up. And absolute fucking bullshit.
She found herself deadly glaring at him every time he'd walk past, watching his exposed teeth and his wide smile wishing she could grab that stupid face and give him a reason to laugh. She's angry. Furious. She absolutely fucking despises him, and Red.
But she doesn't at all.
And so it happened on Monday morning, in science. Well..
Layla is sat on her lab chair, her torso leant on the table with her chin in her inner elbow as she bounces her right leg up and down the more the teacher speaks.
Layla turns to her right to find the chair empty, I hope she's okay. She finds herself thinking, immediately wanting to gauge her eyeballs out cause why the fuck is she thinking that?
And when Layla turns to face the teacher again, she immediately regrets it because as she blinks the door is swiftly opened and the tall figure that is Red enters. Layla sits up straight away. Her hair looks curlier than usual, and she has a smirk on her face, her hands in her blazer pockets and her eyes meet Layla's the second she can see her, her eyebrows narrow slightly, Layla's heart drops as her stomach flutters in fear.
"What time do you call this, Red?" Mrs. Closs sighs in frustration as she rolls her eyes at the Red who's just rocked up forty minutes late to her class.
Red doesn't respond and simply holds her stare to Layla, the class quietly chuckling at this awkward moment.
"So, not only you turn up late, but now you are blatantly ignoring me." Mrs. Closs steps to the right, blocking the pair from being in view of one another, she has her hands at either sides of her hips.
"I'm sorry." Red mutters, shaking her head slightly before raising her eyebrows as a way of asking for permission to sit, and Mrs. Closs nods, pleasingly before Red is swiftly brushing past her and making her way to Layla.
Layla refuses to look at her, staring only directly in front of her as if they didn't just stare at each other for half a minute straight. Both of Layla's legs are bouncing now and she's obsessively fidgeting with her rings.
