— ACT ONE OF THREE —
THE BEGINNING OF THE ENDchapter three | vatos
* editedSADIE'S mother died when she was 10. Neither parent took the best care of her and her brothers, if she were honest. However, it was her mother's death that hit harder than her father's. Her mother was around from time to time, unless her father had beat her so bad she could barely walk. At these times, Sadie's mother wouldn't find herself out of bed for days. Her and Daryl were left to take care of her , and themselves, while their father found a seat at the bar stool in town.
But then there were days when their mother would be attentive. They would receive breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their mother might have even put the cigarette out in her hand to help heal them when they played too rough. And then it was as if a switch was pulled. Daryl and Sadie were riding bikes with the neighborhood kids one day, until it seemed that times stopped as they watched their house burn down with their mother inside.
The previous night, her father had done a number on her, causing her to do nothing but lay up in bed with a cigarette practically glued to her mouth.
It seemed that when their mother passed, their father wasn't home unless it was to play some poker game with his buddies or belittle his two youngest children.
And Merle, being the insufferable older brother, found himself in and out of the county jail quite often. Not like their father noticed, or cared for that matter.
That left Daryl took care of Sadie. That became his full time job the minute they watched their house burn down. He even stopped the bullies from pulling on her pigtails on the playground, and wiped her tears when she fell down on the pavement.
He had always taken care of Sadie. Up until the time she left.
So now, as she was being ripped from his grasp, Daryl fought a hard battle with himself. He watched as she and Glenn were thrown into the gold sedan, but watching was all he could do.
He noticed the boy he had left sitting against the brick building try to get up. Daryl immediately grabbed him and began interrogating the mouthy teenager. His attitude reminded Daryl of Sadie's when she was fifteen.
Sadie, however, was clearly showing how much of a basket case she could really be.
"Can't we just throw her out of the car?" One of them asked. "Esta puta no cierra la boca."
"Throw me out of this fucking car, I dare you!" She yelled. Glenn looked at her with panic written all over his expression as he shook his head no. He didn't want to be left alone with these people.
"She had knives, amigo. La chica esta loca."
"Put the rag in her mouth. Maybe that'll shut her up." The other man, who was driving, said.
Sadie looked at the man who sat in the backseat with her and Glenn. She quickly spit in his face before he could put the dirty rag in her mouth.
He grimaced and wiped his face before knocking her out with his gun.

WHEN Sadie came to, she found Glenn playing with three chihuahua's. "What the fuck are you doing?"
"Aren't they adorable?" Glenn grinned. "Think Shane would let us bring a dog to camp?"
