Ty Lee stretches as she leans against the railing of her balcony. The new moon that usually blackens the sky is replaced with dozens of fire works still going off from the celebrations. Deciding to settle in she had changed outfits to a more comfortable one. Silk Pj with flower embroidery.
A knock on her door catches her attention.
A servant?
"Come in." She says
Mai steps in, Ty Lee's eyes narrow seeing the corners of Mai's eyes have turned red and puffy. Mai notices and tries to speak first but it's to late. Ty Lee is already dragging her inside.
"Are you okay?" Ty Lee says with concern.
"It's been a while since I've been here." Mai says glancing around the room.
The room itself is rather traditional fire nation design just replace all the reds with pinks. A large bed with beautiful canopy bed, the curtains pink with glitter and one could probably even taste the sweetness in the air. The walls adorned with scribbles of Azula and Mai with Ty Lee playing. Professional paintings of the three of them hanging as well along with many diverse knick knacks from all nations. Yet intermingled with all the glitter and puff are eerie dolls that resemble voodoo dolls. On the balcony are small twisted plants. Venus fly traps but also several black lillies with deep red pistils. Each plant seemingly being cared for with great precision. Lastly a small section next to bed is cleared with the only item being small unmarked box.
A flood memories hit Mai as she smiles softly. Ty Lee narrows her eyes before wagging her finger.
"Oh no you don't, we are not changing the subject. Look I know Azula can be a bit...much with her words but I promise she really does care." Ty Lee says grabbing Mai's hands with reassuring eyes.
Mai let's out a sigh reluctance before a small smile forms as she does the tension in her body that was forming releases, surprising even herself.
"It's not about her, I mean it is but its just...back on the boiling rock I was tempted to betray Azula but stopped because of my own cowardice. Now because of that choice Zuko is hurting and I can't reach him." Mai says frustration making her clench her teeth.
Ty Lee's eyes widen before quickly checking her surrounding, she begins to move towards the door but is stopped by Mai.
"Don't worry I made sure all the Di Lee are far away." Mai says with a surprising small laugh.
"Here I thought you didn't fear Azula." She adds.
Ty Lee takes a breath of relief before turning with a smile.
"Of course I fear Azula but that doesn't mean I don't care for her. But I understand why you would want to betray her, you love Zuko, and I know Azula isn't your favorite person. But go easy on her okay? She's been through alot." Ty Lee says with face of pity.
"So has Zuko if not more, and now he's imprisoned by his uncles killer." Mai says her voice rising before she calms herself.
"I'm not saying he hasn't suffered, and he doesn't know his uncle is dead or that Azula was the one who did it. But it's different in his case, he has people who care about him besides his uncle. People who are waiting for him but Azula...all she has is us. I'm not trying to argue with you over who suffered more, in my opinion we've all had our share off suffering." Ty Lee says sitting up while touching a poorly made drawing of the three of them.
Mai sits up and takes a breath. "I'm sorry I don't know what's gotten into me today." Mai says her voice shaking.
"Haha, no need! I love seeing you express yourself Mai. For a second there I saw your dingey aura light up!" Ty Lee says with wide smile.
