Once Steve and Sarah reached home he buried her in another long hug.I thought I lost you." Steve said, cradling her head against his chest.
"You can't get rid of me that easily," she said letting her dad hold her. Sarah felt nervous but was glad that things were back to normal.
"So what's going to happen?" she asked. He sighed as he hung his coat up on the rack, "We are going to talk to some men and try to get answers."
Sarah nodded, "Well can't I come." He nervously chuckled," No, I'm not letting you out of my sight until your thirty." Sarah had a disgusted look on her face. "But dad I can help-," She started to complain but Steve cut her off.
"No buts you're not going and that's final," He said in a strict but calm voice. Sarah squeezed her eyes together, "Fine." Steve smiled and kissed her forehead. "Thank you, " he said. "Mmmmhmmm no problem, "Sarah said sarcastically.
Later that night after Sarah went to bed Steve opened his closet. Opening the door in the back he reached out to grab his uniform and shield.
He hasn't been in the uniform in years, realizing it brought more memories than he thought. He clothed himself in the American colored outfit. Steve admitted that he wasn't as muscular as he was 13 years ago, but he looked pretty good. He hung the suit back up where it came from. "Your time will come," he said. "Oh and now I'm talking to clothing," Steve said smacking his forehead.
Sarah was watching TV when she heard a knock. "I got it dad," she said getting up and running to the door. Behind the door Peter stood along with a boy she didn't know. "Hey," she said blushing."Hey Sarah, " Peter said.
"Uh come in." Sarah opened the door wider so they could walk through. Once inside Peter said, "This is Harley, a family friend of the starks."
Sarah and Harley smiled at each other. "We were talking about your story and he wanted to meet you,"he said. "Hi I'm Sarah Rogers," she introduced herself. "Harley Keener," Harley said, shaking hands with Sarah.
"I have to say your story is uhh interesting,"he said. Sarah laughed which made Peter blush. "Yeah I guess it is especially since I don't remember anything ,"she chuckled. "Why don't we go get a bite to eat? I heard of this really cool restaurant downtown we could check out, "Peter asked but before the others had a chance to enter. Steve walked in the room.
Sarah turned to him and said, "Hey Dad this is Harley Keener he is a friend of the Stark family." Steve said hi and shook Harley's hand. Peter cut in, "He heard Her story and wanted to meet her if that's ok with you,Steve. We were wanting to go grab something to eat."
Steve gave Sarah and Pete a questioning look, "I don't know Sarah if it's the smartest thing to do." Sarah sighed, "Dad come on." "I promise I won't let her out of my sight," Peter said. Steve looked blankly thinking about whether or not he should let her.
"Ok you can go but make sure your phone is completely charged Sarah, and Pete do not let her out of your sight do you hear me?" Sarah went up and hugged her father. "Yes Dad ,Thanks and it's at 100%," She said. "I promise I won't," Peter reassured.
Once Peter, Harley and Sarah reached the restaurant they were seated in a booth in the corner of the maroon room. After they ordered drinks Harley started the conversation, "Have they tried to bring back your memory back by anyway?"
Sarah took a sip of her drink and shook her head. "No, since they don't know what happened they don't want to chance what the procedure could do." she said. Harley nodded. Once they finished their meal, Sarah, Harley, and Peter took a walk downtown.
They stopped by the antique store that Sarah was previously abducted. "Do you remember being here or anything happening here, " Peter asked. She looked around the store and the alley ways beside it. After Sarah finished she slowly shook her head and said, "I don't remember ever being here." Peter bit his lip. "Ok," He said patiently. He thought bringing her to these places some thoughts would come back to her memory. But he was wrong.
When Sarah was dropped off at home she found her dad sitting at the table looking as if he just hung up from a call. "I'm home, " she said trying to grab Steve's attention.
Steve turned to her and smiled, "Hey princess. How did it go."
"Hey. It was fine, " Sarah answered, and then said from curiosity, "what was the phone call about?"
Steve laughed, "Now aren't you a little nosy." Sarah rolled her eyes jokingly. "Tony called to ask if you would like to go spend the night with Morgan and some others, " Steve told Sarah. Her eyes widened. "Can I go dad? I haven't seen any of my friends for so long except Peter of course," She said eagerly.
Steve sighed and tightened his lips, "I don't know Sarah, with everything that has happened I think I would like for you to stay with me." Sarah scrunched up her nose. "Aw come on Dad, " She said, giving him the puppy dog eyes. "No," Steve laughed, "don't give those to me."
He turned his head away in fun. "Please," Sarah pleaded. Steve turned to her and put his hand on her shoulder. "I guess it will be good for you to get away from all this drama," he said slowly. Yes! Thanks Dad." Sarah exclaimed while she went in for a thank you hug.
Steve hugged her back and said, "I am the best dad aren't I ? Even got a coffee cup to prove it." Steve held up a white glass with the words World Best Dad painted on it. Sarah laughed, "Yeah I guess you are."
"I guess? What is that supposed to mean? "he said questioningly. Sarah laughed as she ran upstairs not saying anything. He laughed to himself and yelled, "It's tomorrow night by the way." "OK thanks," She yelled back. Steve felt good that Sarah was going to be a kid and have some fun even though he wanted her to stay with him. "Put your worries aside Steve, " he said to himself, "Dang it now i'm talking to myself."
Sarah was excited to spend the night with Morgan and the others. She picked her phone up to text her when this sharp pain shot through her head. Suddenly Sarah felt very lightheaded and her vision grew blurry.
She sat down on her head completely still, waiting for the headache to go away. "Why is this happening to me again? This is the second time today, " Sarah thought to herself.
Once the pain went away and her vision cleared she felt normal as if nothing had happened. She chose to ignore it and pack her empty bags lying on the floor. Right after she finished Peter called her cell. "Hey Sarah are you going to Stark's today?," he asked.
"Yeah I actually just finished packing. Uh Pete do you know who all is gonna be there?" she said. It was quiet on the other side of the phone as he was thinking.
"Me, you, Morgan, Shuri, and Harley," Peter finally answered. Sarah felt a little disappointed. "Harley will be there?" Sarah said. Peter laughed, " Yeah. Why? What's wrong you don't like him?" "No, I like him. He is a nice good looking guy," she paused.
For a small amount of time Peter felt a pang of jealousy then said, " But..." Sarah played around with a pen drawing her name in curly letters on the paper as she talked.
"I don't know I could be completely wrong but I just feel he doesn't like me." Sarah said. "No, I think he does. You're just overthinking it, " Peter said to her reassuringly.
She thought about it, " I guess you're right. "Well I gotta go, I'll see you there, " He said. "Ok bye," Sarah hung up the phone. "Hey Dad, I'm ready, let's go," She called down to Steve.
Grabbing her backpack and sliding over her shoulders she ran downstairs. Steve met her at the bottom. "Hey princess Bucky is gonna drop you off because I got to meet at headquarters soon," he said. "Ok bye love you, "Sarah said, hugging her dad.
"Bye love you and don't forget to have fun," Steve said, hugging her back and kissing her on her forehead. "I'll try my hardest," Sarah chuckled.
