Nico
Nico felt invincible. They stood at the starting lines, his chariot sending waves of tremor to everyone. The immortal horses neighed , the sound echoing multiple times over the place. It bears one message Nico was sure.
"Dude, your horses sure are cocky," Percy said.
Nico just smirked at that.
The horses neighed as they trampled their hooves on the ground. The grass turned gray with each strike.Percy raised his hands in surrender. "Okay. Fine. You're the horse man. Stop scaring the other horses."
Jason bumped him in the shoulder, momentarily taking his attention away from those sea-green eyes.
"Your sunshine calls you."
Nico spotted the healer's mop of blond hair in the midst of the track, riding their blazing chariot out in the setting sun. Two pairs of green eyes and stormy grey ones stared in between them.
"How dare you use underworldly powers again!" Will shouted.
I. Did. Not. He thought.
He pursed his lips before replying. "I do what I want."
"You really don't learn."
"I don't need your guidance "
"I don't need your thick skull."
"Skulls are thick you moron."
"Get out of that high chariot of yours."
"No."
"I said.. "
"No.."
Annabeth's stormy grey eyes seemed to sparkle with amusement.
"What?!" Nico asked her.
The daughter of Athena just shrugged.
"Stop bickering when we're in between you guys. You both sound like chirping lovebirds," she said.
Will blushed shamefully. Nico averted his eyes. The teasing eyes of Jason didn't help.
Piper waved at Jason. She was with Miranda Gardiner. Nico sneered at Jason's blushing cheeks."Not a word..." He warned.
Chiron had risen from his wheelchair.
"Ready your horses!"
Nico caught a glimpse of Reyna on the crowd. She smiled at him.
"On your mark. Get set. GO!"
The horses ran before Nico told them to. The wind cut on his face like a cold bath after a hot day of work. The grass withered wherever their chariot trod. Dust and ashes went up his face. Jason swept it aside with his mini hurricane. He looked around. Dark aura crept to the grounds. It reminded Nico of the Fields of Asphodel. Ashes swirled around them like a protective vortex.
No chariot had been close enough for hitting range. Perhaps two demigod sons of the Big Three teaming up was too troubling for this race.
Well not enough.
Greek fire almost hit him right in the face.
Jason turned in a 180 degrees arc.
"****! Just got real!"The charioteers started sabotaging the other chariots.
Percy was swinging Riptide to cut a celestial bronze net wrapped around him. Clarisse was laughing as she shredded wheels of Lou Ellen's chariot, much to her partner's rage. Clovis lounged peacefully at the back of their chariot as Butch maneuvered out of Travis' traps. A random guy fell snoozing off his chariot just as he caught a bunch of poppies aimlessly thrown by Clovis.
