Nico

Reyna hadn't woken up yet. It's been three days, three friggin days.
It seemed like a lifetime already.

"Ambassad-"

"What?!" Nico snapped, not even bothering to look up. It was just one of those demigod and legacy volunteers.

He felt the person shifting, the creaking of the door gave him away.

"Uhh.. Food is served downstairs," the guy said.

"I'm not hungry."

"You've said that already. Three day fasting won't do you any good."

Nico gritted his teeth.
How dare he offer him food when Reyna's unconscious. He wouldn't leave her side.

He whipped his head to face the guy.
"I said I'm no-"

The sight of golden hair made him stop short.

The guy was wearing a hospital gown two sizes smaller than his size, his ripped jeans and pair of flip flops peaking out of the green smock.

He must have stared too long at his clothes. The guy consciously smoothed out his gown.

"I badly needed to get my sizes right, I know. I look silly. Stupid growth spurt," the guy ranted.

"It's no-"

"Oh. How rude of me. My name's Rob, short for Robert."

Nico opened his mouth to reply but thought better of it.

Rob smiled. "No need to be shy. I know you. You're Nico di Angelo. The Ambassador of Pluto, Champion of Minerva, Bringer of the Athena Parthenos, Defeater of Minos, Conquerer of the Labyrinth, Hero of Olympus. The Greeks told us you came to Olympus with an army of the undead with three deities at your side."

Nico stared dumbly at the guy. That's not who he is. He is only Nico di Angelo, a son of Hades.

He made him sound like a hero.

Nico's objection came out as a grunt.

"For a hero, you look deathly and a little boyish..."

The son of Hades turned his back away from the door, not listening to compliments thrown his way. He'd choose being with rotting ghouls than be with ranting demigods any day.

He stared at Reyna's unmoving body laid out on the bed before closing his eyes for a second.
The guy, Rob, noticed his annoyance. Thank the gods.
"...soo... You'll come down for dinner or what?"

Nico grunted.
"Go away."

"I'll take that as a no."

"Good. Now get out."

He waited for the door to shut.

Rob cleared his throat. "You know, Praetor Ramirez-Arellano won't be happy with you skipping dinner."

"How would you know?" The words came out of his mouth before he can stop himself.

Rob smiled warmly.
"She cares. She asked me days ago for multivitamins and iron-induced tablets. I think it's for you."

Nico tensed. He felt the irrational urge to squeeze Reyna's hand in his.

"Sooo... I'll call room service for you?" Rob asked.

Nico said nothing.

"I'll take that as a yes."

Then the door slammed shut.
