Mackenzie's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's less than one day until the Volturi come, and already it seems we've lost. Everyone's spirits are down; even Emmett is keeping quiet. The Cullens and Denalis went hunting three hours ago, leaving the mutts in charge of me and Renesmee. We're going to go hunting when they come back, but at the moment I'm filling myself up with omelets and toasted jam sandwiches, like the dogs.
"Pig" Renesmee comments, walking past me and over to Jacob's side.
"How?" I ask, forgetting that I had a mouthful of toast. Half of the toast falls down my top, and plops onto the floor. I stare at the chewed up mouthful on the floor for a moment, my mouth hanging ajar, before I sprint over to the cupboard, and pull out some kitchen roll. I quickly clean it up, and throw the tissue away, before washing the plate I'd used.
"Because" she answers, still snickering. "You've just spat out part of your meal and eaten a whole carton of eggs"
"The dogs have eaten three cartons each, and your calling me a pig?"
"Hey!" Jacob shouts, still chewing part of an omelet.
"You see what I mean?" I whisper to Renesmee, who chuckles, before abruptly stopping. She scowls at me, before sitting next to Jacob.
"Stop being mean to Jakey" she says, making her voice sound high. I stick my tongue out at her, before pouring myself a glass of orange juice.
"Anyway" I say, trying to divert the conversation. "When will the others be back?"
"Don't know, but they'd better come soon. I've got a feeling that I'm going to beat you" she replies, smirking.
"Oh, yeah? Just like the last few times-- Oh, wait! I won them, not you"
She growls, mutters something under her breath that sounded like 'know it all, knows nothing'.
I drain the orange juice in a few gulps, before rinsing the glass, and walking over to the doorway.
"Oh yeah. Ness?" I ask without turning to face her. She hums a one note reply as to say 'yes'. "I'm getting the channel changer now!"
At the last part of my sentence, I bolt out of the room, ignoring Renesmee's quick footsteps that followed mine. I jump over the side of the couch, landing right in the middle, before snatching the remote off of the glass table.
"Haw haw!" I taunt, imitating a TV show character, and point at Renesmee. She sticks her tongue out at me, before turning on the TV.
"Thank you" I say cheerfully, and flick through the channels. I pause for a moment, stopping on that soap opera thing that Renesmee likes, before clicking onto it.
"Why're you turning this on?" she asks, sitting next to me. I shrug my shoulders, and pass her the remote.
"Too tired to care" I lie, closing my eyes. I hear her hum, and peek through my eyelashes to find her staring at me with one eyebrow raised.
"Yeah right" she scoffs, sitting back down and focusing her eyes on the TV.
As if I was lucky, I hear the Cullens and Denalis coming back in the distance.
"They're back!" Renesmee screams, jogging downstairs. I follow her, but instead of walking down the stairs, I try something new.
"Ness?!" I call, staying at the top of the staircase.
