(7) SYNCED FEELINGS

I turn the knob and swing the door open. Walking to the living room in my sleeping clothes. My eyes were a bit tired from the amount of movies we watched last night. I hadn't brushed my teeth yet, so the taste of the barbaque chips we ate in the time capsule was still fading in my tastebuds. I can hear the song Yoga by Janelle Monae being played in the living room.

To my surprise, I find Melissa on the couch. Dabbing foundation on her already georgous face. Sometimes I feel like she doesn't need make-up. Like, she should only wear it on the days when...wait! I scroll her up and down. The mini dress attire plus the make-up was code for 'Going out'. A frown grows on my face as I approach the couch.

"Where are you going looking so beautiful like that?" Being a best friend. I ask with a compliment.

She looks up at me. A confused look on her face with a little bit of guilt.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you." She says. "One of my classmates is taking us out for his birthday. We meeting at Suncoast then we taking it from there."

The distant chattering at the entrance of the flat causes us to shift our focus to the direction where the sound was coming from.

"Ohh, that must be your new friends." I smile, trying to hide the look I make when I feel left out. "Have fun okay." I say. I move away from the couch as their voices become more clearer.

"You can come if you want." She offered.

"Nahh, it's okay. I have to be at the shop anyway." I say, walking pass her group of friends. They look like they were all in with the stunning clothes they were wearing. Tyron follows behind them. Our eyes lock as we walk pass each other. Giving each other a look.

I close the door behind me and let out a sigh. I could hear their cheerful voices from where I stand as Vegas by Doja Cat starts to play. Tyron wouldn't last a minute in there before Melissa kicks him out. And even if I agreed to go, the clothes in the travelling bag I came with didn't match the clothes they were wearing. I just shrunk my jealousy and walked to my cousin's flat to get changed for work.
