Ebusuku by Kebza De Small played in the taxi we jumped off from. The song faded as the car drove away. Melissa and I stood at the entrance to uShaka merine world in our street style drips with a bucket hat on top. Thinking of all the fun things that lie beyond this entrance.
We started at the shipwreck aquarium. The pictures she made me take was endless. She brought out her creative side by posing against the glass display of magnificent fishes. I wanted us to go shark diving after but that shit's expensive. Either way, Melissa wouldn't have gone with me. She would've gotten cold feet the minute it was time for us to enter the cage.
We hit the game store after. I cannot count with my fingers how many games we played but if you ask me to count how many times I lost I'd pull out my palm and another two fingers. She tricked me into losing to her. This chick Melissa, she's a skalm. "Don't play wid us." She kept saying after every victory.
"Let's get wet and ride this shit." That's what she said before we entered the wet and wild section of uShaka. I changed into my tank top and shorts. It was by the swimming pool where we were supposed to meet. Melissa walked towards me in a black string bikini. She was popping. I only noticed it now that she isn't that shy little girl anymore. I could feel the gaze of other guys on her. Gosh how much I wanted to poke their eye balls out.
I didn't realise how much I was staring at her until she said. "Don't just stand there and look at me." She smirked. "Compliment me."
"Nahh, I was just thinking, did you get the bakini on Shein too?" I grinned. She laughed. "Ayyy, you slaying either way."
We got into the waters. I can never forget that feeling I got when I went down the wild slides. There were jovial voices in the air. Call out by DJ Fisherman and Naak Musiq was being played while everyone continued to enjoy the day. Melissa rose from under the pool after a swift dive. I could see a few streams of water going down her neck and in between her boobs. That's how close I was to her. I close my eyes after she splashes water on my face directly from her mouth. I groaned out her name. She only laughed which resulted in me smiling.
An evening mood intervenes as the sun starts to set. Sete by K.O featuring Yung Stunna and Blxckie is being played. I couldn't blame the people who sang along to the song. Seriously, if I knew the language really well I'd be singing along too. Melissa and I walk alongside the pool with ice cream in our hands. We are heading for the wooden bridge to get a better view of the evening sky.
"What about Phumi and Yamke?" I ask.
"They went to the farms for the holidays." She says, licking the ice cream again. "Ayy, but this ice cream though."
"I know right." I relate to what she just said.
A guy in shorts is approaching. I couldn't stop myself from staring at his erotic figure. He has a chain around his neck and a few rings on. "I like how you sucking that ice cream." He says. We share a gaze as we cross each other.
Melissa gives me a look. "And then?"
"Melissa, that's TK."
"What? Joburg TK?" She asks. I nod. "Wait, Ntutuko?"
I nod again.
"No way. The ou looks hotter in person." She says.
"I know right, check out his chest too." I say.
We take the steps to the bridge.
"Yarrr." She grins. I sence one of her crazy ideas coming as her facial expression grows even brighter. "Waai, talk to him."
We stand by the the bridge. I could spot TK socialising with his friends in the crowd of people.
"What? No." I say after eating the last piece of my ice cream cone. "What will I even say to him."
"Just say anything. Flirt with him even."
"Melissa, we're both discreet."
"Djimmy, he just said he likes seeing you sucking ice cream, in public." She persuades. Knowing Melissa, she isn't going to give up anytime soon. "What's so discreet about that?"
"I still think it's not a good..." I frown as a gallon of water rushes down my body. Its cold, really cold. I spot a few ice cubes on the surface of the bridge. My face turns sour as a result of this chilling experience. "The fuck!" I moan. I turn around and to my surprise Jackie, Tyron and Kapinga are laughing at me. Melissa just put her palm over her lips and gasps. "Jackie!"
"It don't look good dawg, it don't look good." Kapinga says.
"My clothes just got dry." I complained. "How did you even get an ice bucket in this place?" I continued. "Ayyy."
I roll my eyes. He already got me pissed. I leave them at the bridge and walk towards the changing rooms.
There's hardly anyone in the changing rooms which I found remarkably wierd. I enter the shower not knowing what followed behind me. I turn around quickly as a reaction to the small shuffle that just happened.
"Shhhh, listen, listen." He places a finger on his fine lips. I immediately become calm. "There's no one here." He continues. "Which means we all alone." He murmurs.
