Chapter 6
Kaylinas pov
*1 month earlier*
"Kaylina!" Richard angrily yelled from downstairs. My heart started to beat fast. I took a deep breath as I hid in the closet. The fabric brushed against my sweaty skin. His footsteps got louder. I clenched the cold wooden bat that laid in my hands.
"Kaylina! I know you're in here!" He swung the room door open. I closed my eyes, afraid of what might happen next. The closet door slid open. My eyes shot open. I swung the bat as hard as I could. As his head turned I ran. I looked back at the unconscious body laying on the floor. My eyes watered as I ran out of the house.
I struggled to get my keys from my bag. My adrenaline was rushing though my body. I could hear the jingle of my keys in my bag. It was like they were hiding from me on purpose.
"C'mon cupcake. Lets talk." That voice sent chills down my spin. He pushed his hips up against mine. I turned around. He was bleeding from his head. His hands pushed onto mine. My bag dropped. I struggled to break free but he was too strong. He leaned in close. I turned my head to avoid his kiss.
He started to suck on my neck. "Babe....lets go back inside and talk." He wiped the tears that were flowing down my face. I nodded. He loosened his grip as we walked back towards the door. Before he opened the door I pulled away from him and ran.
I ran as fast as I could. My feet barley touched the floor. I quickly turned the corner to catch my breath. I slid to the floor. I pulled my knee close to my chest. I let my eyes fill with tears. I started to sob louder. The cold wind was my only comfort. I wiped my tears and stood up. I can't let him win--I won't let home win. I knew he would be waiting for me at my house. I couldn't go home.
I decided I would go to my friends house. She lives in a remote area just outside of town. I took the bus there.
When I got there she was outside in her porch.
"Sara!" I yelled as I ran towards the the petite fragile girl.
"What's wrong?" She asked. Her voice cracked as she came closer and saw the bruises that he left me. "Ri-Richard he-he's crazy." I weakly said. She cradled me in her arms.
"I have to get out of town." I said.
*present time*
I woke up in my bed. The blinds were open. I turned my head to find Jai in the corner of the room. He was sitting on my pink chair.
"Morning sunshine." He walked over towards me. I was surprised to see him.
"Morning....um... where's Gaby?" I asked. He was wearing a red beanie and a black sweater.
"She's still sleeping." He reassured me. He rubbed the palm of my hand.
"How did I get to my bed?" I asked. I remember falling asleep on the couch. He chuckled.
"I saw you asleep on the couch downstairs. So I carried you." He smiled. He licked his lips before leaning in closer. I lifted my hand. Blocking him from moving forward.
I turned my head. He smacked his lips and walked out.
I laid in bed until my aunt came in. She was in her uniform. "Hi sweetie how are you doing?" She asked as she leaned agains the door post.
"Good. I should start getting ready. I'm going out for breakfast with Liam."
I walked to the bathroom. My hair was naturally wavy so I didn't bother changing it. I changed into some jeans and a black leather jacket.
I went to check up on Gaby. She was in her room watching the vow crying. I felt bad for leaving her. She has been like this since yesterday. I walked downstairs. My aunt was eating cereal. I opened the door and Hannah was there. She was wearing a pink skirt and a baby blue shirt.
"Hi......ummm is Gaby here?" She asked.
She tried to peak through my door. I moved my body, blocking her from looking inside. Behind her I saw Liam pull up.
"Listen, Hannah you were Gaby's friend and you kissed her boyfriend. She doesn't want to see you. Please just leave." I brutally said as I ran after Liam. His hands were held out for me. I kissed him. I felt butterflies in my stomach.
"Your lip? It's still purple. What happened?" I asked. He turned his head. I pulled him closer. "It's okay. You can tell me." I said.
"I got into a fight...with...um some guys...it's nothing. " he was a terrible liar. I decided to drop the matter. "Where are we going?" I asked as we got into the car.
"It's a surprise." He kissed me. I leaned my head on his shoulder as we drove off. His biceps were huge. I examined them as he continued to drive. I heard him smirk at my curiosity.
"What?" I laughed as he looked down at me. He hand one eye brow raised.
"Nothing. We're almost there." He simply said as he went on driving again. I blankly stared at him.
We arrived at a local park. The trees swayed in the wind. We set up a small picnic by a big oak tree.
"This is really sweet Liam." I said as he handed me a bowl of fruit. I softly planted a kiss on his lips. I could feel his teeth on my lips as he smiled. I set the bowl down and positioned myself on top of him. I planted small kisses on his neck. His hands lay on my hips.
He grunted as my phone rang interrupting our kiss. I giggles as I reached for it. The number was blocked.
"Um I have to take this." I coldly said as I walked away, far enough so he couldn't hear me.
"Hello?" I softy said into the phone.
"Where are you cupcake? You're not home. Are you with that Liam boy? I don't like him. I know you're doing this to make me jealous. You win now come claim your prize." Richard said.
I froze. I quickly looked back at Liam who was running his fingers through his hair. Before I could answer the phone went dead.
