Chapter 8

Kaylinas pov

Soon after Liam left Gaby ran in. I wiped my tears. She gently brushed my hair with her fingers. She held me tight.

"Shhh....it's okay he's not here." Gaby whispered in my ear.

"Gaby....can you take me home." I asked as I gathered my self and stood up. She nodded and helped me clean the tear stains on my cheek.

The entered the empty hallway. Liam was sitting by my locker. His head was in his hands. Gaby looked at me. I nodded signaling that she could return to class. I cleared my throat to get his attention.

"Kay!" He jumped up and hugged me.

I put my hands up to distance him from me. His smile faded into a frown. He took a step back.

"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to hurt you." He whispered.

He looked at the ground. I grabbed his hand.

"It's fine. It was an accident. I ummm....It just reminded me of something and yeah. It's fine." I whispered.

His palms cupped my chin. He leaned in close. Our lips almost touching.

"If something was wrong....you would tell me right?" He asked as his voice cracked. I wasn't ready to tell him.

"Yeah....I would tell you.....b-but I'm fine....I promise." I could tell he wasn't satisfied with my answer. He softly kissed my forehead.

"Mr.payne. Please see me in my office NOW." Mrs. Edwards said. She was the principle of the school.

"I'll see you later?" He asked.

I nodded. He smiled before following mrs.Edwards to her office. He was probably going to get in a lot of trouble for the fight. I exited the back of the school. The warm sun danced on my cheeks. I reached into my purse to find my keys. I got the weird feeling that someone was watching me. I looked up.

The sun shined bright onto my face. My eyes scanned the campus. I saw a shadowy figure by the back building. I took a deep breath. I walked towards the figure. As I got closer they moved backwards. My pace sped up. I was almost there.

"Kaylina?!" A voice yelled after me.

I quickly turned around. It was Liam. He had puzzled look on his face as he jogged towards me. I turned back and the shadowy figure was gone.

I walked back towards Liam. The mystery lingered in the back of my head.

"Hey Kay." He said with a smile.

I returned the smile and brushed past him.

"Are you in a lot of trouble?" I asked without making eye contact.

"Suspended for a week but whatever." He carelessly said.

"Oh." I sighed.

"That just gives me more time to plan your birthday dinner." He whispered in my ear as his hands rested on my hips.

"Yeah....a year older." I rolled my eyes.

"It will be fun. Wanna get out of here?" He kissed my cheek. His touch send chills down my spine.

I turned to face him. He looked down at me. "Sure." I said as I kissed him. I felt his teeth on my lips as he smiled. He held my hand as we walked towards the car.

"Miss.Kaylina, where do you think you're going?" Mrs.Edwards questioned. Her arms were crossed and her glasses lay perfectly on her nose.

I rolled my eyes before returning to class. I brushed past her shoulder. I took one last look Liam before entering the halls. The clicking of my shoes echoed through the empty hall.

The classes went by fast. Before I knew it, it was after school.

Gaby made plans with her friends. It's good that she's getting out. I entered the empty house. I dropped my bags by the front door.

I dragged my feet up the stairs. I struggled to open hallway closet.

"Hi cupcake." A creepy voice whispered in my ear. I prayed it wasn't Richard. I turned around. Richard stood in front of me. His body pressed up against mine.

"I haven't seen you in a while. You skipped town before we could talk." He said. He started to kiss my neck. I cringed at each touch.

"W-what do you want?" I asked. My eyes filled with tears.

"Don't cry baby....I won't hurt you. I promise." He whispered as his hands roamed my body. His fingertips tickled my shoulder.

"Richard. Please." I whispered

"Fine. Lets get to the point then shall we?" A sense of anger was in his voice.

"Yes please."

"I want Liam gone. He makes me a bit jealous. Break up with him."

"No. Why would I do that?"

"If you don't....I'll tell him. I'll tell him that the innocent Kaylina he thinks he knows is a murderer." He whispered in my ear.

A single tear fell down my cheek. I shook my head.

"Your choice. Oh! And heres a little present for Liam." He said as his hand slapped my face. I fell to the ground. He grabbed my hair, dragging me across the floor.

"Help!" I screamed. He put his hand over my mouth. I blacked out.

*****30minutes later

I woke up on the floor. My head ached. I looked around, Richard was gone. I lifted my hand to my forehead. The red liquid slithered down my cheek. To the side of me there was a small pool of blood. I struggled to get up. I made my way to the bathroom. I put a band aide on the cut.

"Kay?!" I heard Liam's voice yell from downstairs. I quickly started to quote blood off of the floor. I could hear the footsteps getting louder.

"Kay, what happened." He asked. He rushed to my side. I slid the wet towel behind me.

"I fell....uhh...clumsy me." I nervously laughed.

"Are you sure?" He asked as he brushed my hair behind my ears.

I shook him off me.

"Yeah. Um not to be rude or anything but did you want something?" I asked.

"Yeah. Yeah. Well tomorrow I was wondering if gaby would want to join us for dinner, I want to bring Harry. He's been kinda off his game." He joked.

"Uh yeah sure. Um well I have to um go but yeah defiantly."

"Oh my god. Your arm. It's bruised. And your cheek!" He exclaimed. His fingers brushed the sore spots. I cringed at his touch.

"I'm fine. I just want to take a nap."

Liam nodded and walked out. I heard the door slam shut. I slipped into bed.
