The next day, once we were all awake, we headed to the house with the portal door. We spent all day there, searching every inch of the place. The roof had caved in, and the upstairs was filled with leaves and moss and wildlife. Downstairs wasn't much better. There was a basement as well, a damp old room with a few bits of old junk, suprisingly that was in the best condition out of everything.

We opened and closed the door over and over, trying to get the portal open. It didn't work. We searched the house for anything remotely magical, and again found nothing. I wondered why and how this place had been the portal place, and who had originally built and lived in the place.

"Maybe we should try a spell." Luz suggested after a couple hours.

So we did. Amity, Willow and Gus tried their magic on the door. But abominations, plants and illusions weren't much help. Honestly we were just grateful magic still worked in the Human Realm. Luz's glyphs weren't so lucky.

Then they asked me if I could try a spell more specific to portals and stuff.

I had been thinking about my magic for ages, ever since what happened in the Day Of Unity sunk in and I inevitably starred worrying about everything ever.

I wondered what effect the Draining Spell would've had on my magic, if any. I hadn't used magic for anything, actually I'd been avoiding it out of fear. I remembered what happened during the spell; the golden tendrils sneaking up through my veins and sucking everything inside me out. The way it burned and stung to the point it was all I could really focus on. It had faded the moment The Collector had moved the moon, but I was still paranoid.

"Yeah," I said. "Yeah, sure. But, um, I don't really know any portal spells."

"That's fine." Willow said. "Just try."

"Right." I nodded, more scared than I should've been. I raised my hand and pointed at the door. It's just a simple spell, I told myself. You should not be this scared.

With a shaking hand, I cast a spell. Nothing happened, to the door. The magic flowed out of my finger easily and felt no different to how it used to.

"Oh." I said.

"Why are you smiling?" Luz asked.

I shook my head and forced myself to stop. "Nothing."

We decided it would take a while to get the portal to work, and realised that we'd be spending a long time in the Human Realm.

We all had mixed feelings about it. Obviously we were terrified of what happened back in the Demon Realm, and if everyone was alright, and what The Collecter was doing. But, also, we were excited, or I was. Cautious, and nervous, but excited to see this other Realm. We knew we'd be here a while, and decided we may as well try and make the most of it.

Luz came out to her mom. When she told us she was planning on it, we didn't know what it meant. Apparently Human's like to give people names based on their gender and what gender they like. Luz said she was bisexual, meaning she liked boys and girls. Also, apparently some humans cared and didn't like people based on these names, or sexualities, so people tended to make a big deal out of telling people. We didn't have that in the Demon Realm. We just liked who we liked and no one really cared.

Either way, Luz came out to her mom and told her how she was dating Amity. Camila was fine with it, and hugged Amity for the rest of the day. Also, Gus used his illusions to make a bunch of "pride flags", another human sexuality thing.

We spent a few days fixing up the portal house, since we were spending so much time there. Willow patched up the holes in the ceiling with vines and plants, along with the rest of the house. I cast a bunch of construction spells everywhere, and between us we got the place back in one piece.
