Recollecting and Reconnecting

Nini face slowly changes as she remembered everything. "Richard Michael Bowen, how DARE you leave me?!? I know you had to go to Chicago with your wretched mother but that doesn't mean that you stop talking to me?!? i'm your best friend and girlfriend for gods sake."

It was almost like there was visible steam coming out of Nini ears, but her anger didn't last long, as she burst into tears seconds later. Even though it didn't feel that long, because technically, Ricky had only been gone for a few days, less than a week to be honest, Nini now knew that for him it was so much longer, and ever minute away from her soulmate felt like forever. Thinking about how long he'd been stuck here just made her more upset, because he hadn't seen her for years

Ricky simply stood there looking shocked before letting out a chuckle. He had got his Nini back and that was all that mattered to him right now. Despite her crossed arms in attempt to stop him from hugging her to show that she was still mad at him despite the tears, Ricky pulled Nini into a tight hug. Even though relative time was different in this universe, he could feel the weight of all the time he had to spend apart from her.

Nini melted into the hug, and even though the two wouldn't admit it, it felt as if they had finally come home. Ricky could feel Nini's silent sobs echoing in his chest and he gently drew circle on her back. This was a habit that they had both picked up, because it seemed to instantly calm the other. He could feel her slowly calming down, but he could stay like this forever. Just the two of them, alone, in a safe and calm place, where they could be themselves without a care in the world.

Unfortunately, he knew that they couldn't stay here forever. Even though lost souls do get a opportunity to spend some time in this universe before returning to theirs, there was a time limit for that, because time was starting to move again in their universe, and if they stayed too long, things could get messed up pretty bad.

Ricky pulled away from the hug first, brushing Nini's hair out of her face and wiping the silent tears that were still falling down her face. Even like this, with her hair all messed up and her nose puffy, he though she was the most beautiful person in all the universes, and he couldn't believe how he got so lucky. His best friend, His soulmate, the only girl who ever mattered and ever will matter to him, was here with him. She had found him, almost as if it was fated to happen, and finally showed him his path. He had found his purpose. And he knew what he had to do now.

Nini had noticed Ricky go silent, and watched as his eyes scanned her face. She could guess what he was thinking right now, because he had always done this since they were young and she couldn't help but let a blush settle on her cheeks. She knew that she'd be separated from him for a short time when they return to their world, because he was still in Chicago there, and she wanted to cherish all the time she could get with him before they would have to go back into the real world, to all the troubles and problems that they had to face.

The two sighed in sync, which cause both of them to snap out of their thoughts. Not long after, a wide grin spread across Ricky's face and Nini let out a giggle. In Sync, like usual. They really hadn't changed, had they.

"So, what Chicago like? And how's this Todd dude who you're so pissed about? Is he really as bad as you though he was? I mean he can't be worst than... your mother" Nini whispered that last part, looking around like someone was going to catch her saying something illegal.

Ricky shoved her on her shoulder, while letting out a laugh.

"Todd isn't that bad but he's nothing next to dad. No matter how much you act like my Mom is some kind of monster for taking me away from you, I'm not gonna hear anything against her. After all, I'm probably gonna have to break her heart by telling her that I'm going back when we get out of here. And Chicago, well it's alright I guess. I mean no place is gonna be amazing without the most gorgeous person in the world" Ricky winked at Nini after saying that last sentence.

Nini faked a confused face before remarking, "What do you mean? the most gorgeous person is in Chicago, or did you mom take you somewhere else?"

It took Ricky a second to register, but as soon as he realises what his she had just said, Ricky became a blushing mess. Nini loved doing this, because somehow, she was the only one who could ever get him flustered.

Ricky composed himself, ignoring the looks of victory that Nini was giving him, and got onto business. They had to make a plan as to how they would solve all the trouble that the two had gotten themselves into in the real world.
