"Jeez Yug! You are even happier than you were before. What's going on?" Joey interrogated again.
Yugi hurriedly threw his books into his bag. "I told you, it's nothing. I just feel a whole lot better!"
"Yug, come on we know something's up. We are your best friends, you are supposed to tell us everything!" Joey continued, leaning over onto the tri-colour haired boy's desk.
"Yugi come on, we can keep a secret!" Téa exclaimed. Folding her arms, she huffed slightly and shot at serious look at the younger, still sat at his desk.
Yugi stood, throwing his bag over his shoulder. "It's nothing, promise." He beamed. Heading over to the door, he waved goodbye to his gang and took off down the hall.
"Something is definitely up. But we have no idea what."
"Way to state the obvious Tristan!" The brunette snapped.
"I know what's wrong with him..." Joey smirked, softening his expression and closing his eyes in a smug manor.
"What? What is it?"
Joey laughed at his own brilliance. "He's met someone. Think about it, he has been texting none stop every lesson. He hasn't been hanging around with us as much. I know it, he has a girlfriend. I bet my life on it."
The brunette girl gasped. "That makes sense! Oh my, that's so cute! But why didn't he tell us?"
"I dunno, but we are going to get it out of him."
**********
Yugi was standing at his locker, discarding no longer needed textbooks.
BANG.
He felt his small stature slam against the lockers. He was petrified, thinking it was those bullies he had encountered before. But his eyes widened in curiosity as he saw his best friend, Joey.
"What are you doing Joey?"
"You are going to tell us what it is that's making you so happy lately. We are your best friends! We deserve to know!"
"I told you..." He was cut off.
"Don't play innocent." Joey smirked. "We know you're with someone."
Yugi's heart was in his mouth. He had to keep Yami's secret or it would cause trouble for everyone. Having only one option left, he took it without a second thought.
Yugi's eyes looked everywhere but directly at his friends. "Alright you caught me! I met a girl okay... I just didn't want you to know because I don't really know how I feel about it yet." He blushed and the nerves began to set in.
"Sooo little Yugi's in with the ladies. Clearly the influence of my charm has rubbed off on you." The ex-gang member spoke proudly, running a hand through his thick blonde hair.
"If that happened Yugi would never have got a girlfriend." Téa chuckled.
The group burst out in laughter, mocking the blonde who was jumping and shouting around, clearly irritated by Téa's statement. The youngest of the group exhaled in relief. They bought it. For now.
After calming themselves Joey asked another question which Yugi was definitely not prepared for. "Soo, what's this lovely's name?" He winked.
"Erm, well.." Yugi fixed his gaze on the ground trying desperately to avoid eye contact.
Téa sighed and a small smile tugged at her lips. "You don't have to tell us Yugi. I bet you haven't even been dating that long. You need to get closer before she meets your friends right?"
"Yeah. Right." Yugi replied awkwardly.
"Well Mr macho, do you have time to come hang with us or you going back to your little lassy for the evening?" Joey wiggled his eyebrows.
"I guess we could go out for a little while."
**********
"I'm so sorry I took so long. The gang wanted to hang out. They were almost onto us." Yugi sighed, lightly closing the bedroom door.
He waltzed over to the bed and perched himself next to Yami.
"It's fine. But Yugi, I'm having a hard time hiding, I shouldn't stay here much longer. Your grandpa is going to catch us together. A dead, 5000 year old pharaoh who is identical to your grandson is now living with and dating him would be enough to mess with anyone's head."
"I want nothing more than to be with you. Let's get our own place and we wouldn't have to sneak around like this anymore. My parents left me enough money. Im sure we could find a place buy the end of the week."
Yami sighed happily and wrapped his arms around the boy, hugging him tight. He then pulled away and kissed the smaller one on the forehead.
They both gave confirming nods.
"Let's do this."
Okay, so a boring filler chapter I know... But trust me the good stuff is soon to come. Thanks for reading! Rachel x
