Ink had to admit, he didn't really understand the woman's story, but it was a familiar message, showing your emotions is good, you shouldn't bottle them up. But you can't bottle up emotions if you don't have them, right?
Ink just watched the world go by as an bystander, just watching people go throughout their day here, it was odd watching life in the third person when he was usually the monster in the front and center. The star of the show.
Ink thought about it for a moment, when he drank his vials, he was quite rude wasn't he? It didn't matter, at least he would get his objectives done.
"I think Ms. Franklin got to him like she does with everyone." Frisk said, swinging their legs to get off of the bench as they smiled. "Go talk to him now."
Dream nodded with a bit of determination after he watched the interaction, him jumping off the bench. The guardian of positivity messed with his hands as he approached. He felt a looming feeling, like a guilt that hasn't hit him yet,
or a fear.
The guardian of positivity let out a low sigh before walking over to Ink slowly. He smiled nervously, "Ink! I have both good news... and bad news." Dream said simply with nervousness lining his voice like a scribbly border to a drawing. Something in the back of his skull told him to lie, told him to not tell him. How would Ink react?
'Dream, what do you gain out of telling the truth? You can get so much more if you just leak one little lie. It's as easy as one, two.. three. And boom! You have him wrapped around your cute little finger~' The voice said simply, speaking cheerfully but maliciously in some bits. It was like a child trying to play the villain.
Ink looked at Dream expectedly, wondering what it was with little hope for each option.
The guardian of positivity had a choice.
And he had to think fast.
"It was actually nothing, I-..." He clenched his teeth, fighting through the guilt that hung over his soul like a cloud. ".. I'm sorry for wasting your time, Please just- drink your vials and we can talk about your loss, alright?" Dream spoke with pain soaked into each word, smiling simply. He wasn't a good liar, but he could fake it until he made it. His voice was shaky no matter how much he willed it to not be so, lost in the despair of lacking options that actually helped the situation.
Ink looked back down to the cookie jar, not replying, seemingly dismissing Dream's behavior.
Luckily, they were out of range to where Frisk wouldn't hear Dream and Ink, which was a blessing the guardian of positivity never thought he'd need.
Dream carefully walked back to Frisk, a small smile on his face, but his eyes a bit scribbly like a child drew them. They were unstable. "I-I did it! I'm actually kind of proud of myself." Dream felt a bead of sweat drip down the side of his face as he messed with the collar of his outfit. Pride was the last thing on his mind, he felt overwhelmingly guilty like a weight making it hard to breathe, he never should've lied, he should've just told the truth! But why couldn't he? He knew damn well, but he didn't want to see in front of himself.
He was selfish.
Frisk took a moment before they shook their head in a disappointed no before looking at Dream with an expression of tired annoyance. "Really? You-" Frisk sighed. "This bi-"
Dream did not know what to do, he was ready to hit himself, Frisk is literally everywhere at once, they could easily hear him! Why in the stars did he think that would work??
Dream couldn't help but just shrink into a ball on the ground, hugging his legs tightly close to him, just kinda spacing out to hell. He honestly felt like dying as he thought about everything he's ever done in his life to make it up to this point.
A small, shrivelled up whisper screech escaped Dream with exasperation and exhaustion.
Frisk sighed, placing a small hand on dreams shoulder. "You've gotta deal with this now."
Dream reached up and put his hood on, looking away from the child beside him, hiding his face. ".... I'll deal with it-... later." Dream spoke quietly, he wanted to push this aside until it wasn't an issue, push it away like he had pushed all his other problems away.
