Chapter Nineteen

I was in a dark room with no exit. The grey walls would stretch further and further away when you tried to walk towards them. I walked forward and spotted a mirror; one of those old ones that had a stand and a frame and sat on the ground. I walked over and my blood ran cold. It wasn't what I saw in the mirror; it waas what I didn't. I didn't have a reflection.

I walked over to the mirror and touched it. My hand went through. It wasn't like when I was a ghost though; it was like it was just a doorway. I walked through to the other side and looked around. It was exactly the same, as if it was a mirror image. Which I guess it was.

I heard footsteps and turned back towards the mirror to see Zayn walking over, smiling. I smiled back. But suddenly, he gasped in shock. He fell onto the ground, lying limp and pale. His eyes closed, he moved his hands to his chest and I watched in horror as a puddle of red began to spread around him.  I ran towards the mirror, desparate. I had to help him. I had to help him!

I ran over and touched the mirror first with my finger, and it shattered. The image of him slowly faded from the brocken glass, as did my dream...

I woke up with Zayn's arms around me, as they always are. They comforted me, and I sighed. I must have been crying because my cheeks were wet with tears.

"What's wrong?" Zayn asked.I turned my head to see Zayn, his eyes full of concern. I wiped the tears from my cheeks.

"Nothing... bad dream, that's all..." I could tell by the look in his eyes that I had woke him up again. And yes, this wasn't the first time. Remember when I was still a ghost?

I relaxed and stayed there in his arms. Then, I had an idea.

"Hey, wanna go out for coffee? Not many people are out today since it's monday and if we go to a small one, not starbucks, you might be able to go without a disuise." He smiled at me.

"Sounds like a plan."

I got dressed in a white shirt that said 'LIve Love Laugh' on it, a polkadotted tank top under it, some light jeans with rips up the legs, and a shoe that was a cross between flats and wedges; they were blue and the wedge part was wooden. Then, I grabbed the necklace Zayn had given me. While I brushed out my hair, Zayn came in wearing a printed tee, black leather jacket, a Vanns hat that said 'Off the wall' and some black converse.

"Let's hurry, before the boys wake up... I already left Liam a note." he said to me. I smiled.

"'Kay, just let me finish brushing my hair." I said.

Once I had finished, we took a cab to a small coffee shop called "Kelly's." We walked in and it was empty except for an elderly couple, the cashier lady, and a blond girl about my age. She was sitting in front of the piano and getting ready to perform. Then, she began to sing a song I recognized as 'Change your life' by Little mix.

Me and Zayn sat down at a small, circle shaped table and watched her. She truely had a beautiful voice. She didn't seem to notice that there was a celebrity in the room; when she sang, it was like she was part of the music. Once she was done, me and Zayn clapped for her. She smiled at us, then her face changed from happy to schocked.

"Y-your..." She stared at us in disbelief. Zayn stood up.

"Yes, I am. Would you like to sit with us?" He was so polite.

"Umm... okay." She pulled up a chair and sat next to us.

"What do you two lovely ladies want? I'm buying." he said.

"I'll just have some coffee and some of their cookies. I heard they're really good." I said. He smiled.

"What about you... umm..."

"Lindsay." she said.

"Well, what would you like Lindsay?" he asked.

"I'll just take some coffee." she said. He smiled and got up to go order. Lindsay sat there awkwardly, fiddling with the strings on her hoodie. She was wearing a grey hoodie, a pink tank top, a white skirt, a brown woven belt, and some flats. Her hair was up in a ponytail with a bow on the back.

"So... you like singing?" I asked her.

"Yeah... this is the only place I've ever sang though. But I'm not complaining. I love this place."

Zayn came back with the coffee and little sugar cookies. I took one bite and fell in love.

"Mmmmm... You guys have got to try these!" I told them. They shrugged and both took one.

"Mmm..." They both said. We all just started laughing. Then, we heard a buzzing sound. Zayn pulled his phone out of his pocket.

"Brooke, that was Niall. He says practice is at one today, so I have to go soon..."

"I can walk from here. I know the way back. I'll meet you there at... three?"

"Alright, call me if you need anything." He walked out and me and Lindsay sat there. Then, she grabbed my hand, examining it.

"What are you doing?" I asked her, kinda weirded out.

"Your nails are so pretty, but you need to paint them. Come on, I know a place." She gabbed my hand and dragged me out so fast I almost spilled my coffee.

She took me to a nail salon just down the block. It was, like the coffee shop, very small, but very nice.

"Hi, welcome to Nails never Fails, how can I help you?" asked the lady as we walked in.

"Could you paint her nails like you did mine last week?" Lindsay asked her. She nodded and brought me over to a desk. She sat me down in a chair on one side and settled in one on the other. Then, she grabbed some nail polish and started painting away.

It took a total of twenty minutes, but when they had dried, I was amazed at the results. They were pink at the top and kinda faded into a light blue at the bottom.

"I love them!" I said. Lindsay laughed and handed the lady some money to pay for it. We walked out and I looked at the time. 9:45.

"I have to go, Lindsay, I'm sorry. I had fun though!" She smiled at me.

"Me too."

Finally, I made my way back to the hotel.

I walked in as the boys were finishing up.

"BROOOOOKE!" they shouted. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Hey guys... miss me?"
