Chapter 23

"This isn't your territory anymore," Paul says to Jacob near the Cullen territory. "How's the new family working out?"

"You done?" Jacob asks with an eye roll.

"You coming home, Jake?" Quill asks.

"Not until I finish this," Jacob answers.

"What do you mean?" Paul asks.

"I want Sam to take back Leah and Seth."

"What?" "No way!" The Clearwater siblings reply at the same time.

"Quiet!" Jacob demands and he turns back to the others. "I want them safe. And I want this over. I need Sam to wait until Bella's been separated from the problem."

"You mean 'till she's dead," Paul snaps.

"Easy, Paul," Embry says.

Paul growls lowly. "Then what?"

"Tell Sam that when the moment comes, I'll be the one to destroy it," Jacob says.

"Jake!" Seth exclaims.

"I'm the only one who can. They trust me," Jacob says,

Emily watches as Janie comes downstairs. She pours the both of them some tea. She smiles at her friend as Janie sips on the tea.

After Jacob has distracted Sam and his pack so that the Cullen's can get out of their house and get more blood. Jacob goes inside.

"Are you okay?" Bella asks him.

"Yeah, it's not like I'm the one carrying a demon," Jacob says.

"This is an important decision, Bella," Rosalie says. "Why don't you tell Jacob what you've decided?"

"What now?" Jake asks.

"Rose is trying to talk Bella out of her baby names," Edward remarks.

"She hates them."

"Then I'll agree with whatever you decide," Jacob says.

"They're not that bad," Bella says. "For a boy, Noel Jacob. After you and Janie, her middle name is Noella."

"Okay, that's not awful," Rosalie says. She's not happy Janie abandoned Bella during this but she also does understand her not wanting to witness her sister's death.

"For a girl, I was messing with our mom's names: Renee and Esme," Bella says. "Renesmee."

"Renesmee," Jacob repeats.

"Too weird?"

"Um..."

"No, it's not too weird. It's beautiful, and unique," Edward says. "That certainly fits this situation. I like Renesmee."

Bella goes to take a drink of blood but suddenly her back breaks and she falls to the floor.

After Bella's back is broken she's gone into labor.

"Rosalie, pass me the morphine," Edward demands.

Alice is talking on the phone to Carlisle. "Carlisle says the placenta must detach!" She declares and Edward gives Bella the morphine shot. "He's coming as fast as he can, but..."

"We'll have to do it," Rosalie says.

Rosalie takes a scalpel to cut Bella's stomach open but Edward stops her.

"Rose, let the morphine spread," Edward declares.

"There's no time. He's dying," Rosalie says.

"Get him out now!" Bella cries.

Rosalie cuts her stomach.

"Bella, look at me," Jacob urges his best friend.

Bella's screaming is heartbreaking. Rosalie cuts Bella's stomach as the sight of blood distracts her.

"Rosalie, don't!" Edward pushes Rosalie away from Bella. "Alice, get her out of here!"

"Rosalie! Ow!" Bella cries.

"Save her! You've got to change her!" Jacob yells over Bella's screaming.

"I can't, not whilst he's still in there," Edward says. "I have to get him out first."

"Stay, Bella. Stay focused. Keep your heart beating," Jacob urges.

"No! He's suffocating!" Bella yells in agony.

Edward rips the embryonic sac with his teeth and pulls the baby out. "It's Noel Jacob."

"So handsome," Bella whispers.

Edward gives the baby to Bella but the baby bites her and Edward takes her back after which Bella appears to die.

"Bella!" Jacob yells her name. "Bella! Bella!" He tries to give Bealla CPR as he chants her name.

"Jacob, take the baby," Edward declares,

"Get that thing away from me!" Jacob snaps.

Rosalie walks into the room. "Edward. I'll take him. I promise I'm okay. Let me."

Edward gives the baby to Rosalie and takes out a syringe and injects Bella with it. Rosalie grabs her phone as she sits in the living room and she calls Janie.

"Hello?" Janie asks warily.

"She had a boy," Rosalie says coldly.

"She's dead, isn't she?" Janie asks just as coldly. "It's not my fault Edward kept forgetting Bella's human."

"He's turning her," Rosalie says. "You should come meet Noel, your nephew." She hangs up.

"Rosalie, don't force this on her," Emmett says as he comes in. "Janie's sister just died. Being turned or not."

"What happened?"

"Jacob imprinted on your nephew," Paul replies to his imprint as he kisses Janie on the top of her head. "We can't touch him."

"I wanna go see him tomorrow," Janie says. "Meet him. He is my blood."

"I understand," Paul replies. "How's my baby?" He asks as he sits beside her on Sam and Emily's couch.

"As far as I know, good," Janie replies. "Wanna sleep here tonight or go home?"

"Let's go home."

Paul goes outside and shifts and lowers himself to the ground. Janelle climbs onto Paul's back and he runs through the woods to their house. He shifts back once Janie's inside. He puts on some shorts and goes inside. He goes to make love to his imprint.
