Sophia didn't even think her outfit through once she entered the rehearsal room 5 minutes later than she should have, violin case in hand.
She felt some eyes looking at her but ignored them, what was their problem?
Rehearsal was great, they went over a new show program debuting soon. Halfway through, the conductor ordered a brake and the violinist slumped immediately on her seat.
Josh was behind her in no time and she got ready for the interrogation."Well, you look positively fucked" Her eyes went wide at his comment and she immediately turned around to scold him.
"Josh! What the heck?"
"Just admit it was good and that I was right"
"Maybe"
"Which one?"
"Oh, shut it!"
"That good huh? Maybe we should share the hottie then if he's into that."
"I did not just hear you say that!"
"I'm joking..."
"Sure sure"
"But I do have a question."
"Ok?"
"Those clothes are clearly not yours"
"That's not a question"
"Patience, patience!" He stated with a laugh. "They are not exactly as oversized as I would expect unless you have been sleeping with a woman, this man of yours is far from your type."
"Do these look like women's clothes?"
"No"
"There's your answer"
"So, not your usual type?"
"Josh, why do you do this to me?"
"I'm just curious"
"I guess not, but I find him hot, that's what matters right?"
"Hum, what matters is if he's treating you right, and judging by how well fucked you look, seems like he is"
"Oh Please! You just say that because you knew I was seeing someone yesterday. You wouldn't be able to tell."
"Your outfit paired with you being late when you never are kinda gives it away, sweetie"
"Ok"
"That's all you have to say?"
"Yup"
"You're no fun"
Sophia was saved by the restart of rehearsal. Thankfully for her tired body, it didn't last much longer. After about half an hour the orchestra was dismissed and she couldn't wait to get home.
Contrary to her prayers, Josh and Hilary were soon by her side, planning a sleepover at her house.
"Why is it always at my place?"
"It's bigger"
"You never complain, don't tell me you had plans?"
It took her a moment to understand what he meant.
"Huh, no."
"Then it's settled. I'll bring the booze" Josh quickly said.
"I will take care of the food" Hilary added.
"See, all you have to do is wait for us and maybe set the table."
"Fine..."
The plans to get home and lie on the bed were instantly off with her friends' sleepover. They hadn't done it in a while so she couldn't say no, no matter how tired she was.
A few hours later her friends were barging into her house without even knocking. Josh had the keys and took them as a direct invitation to do as he pleased.
Sophia was watching TV on the couch when they arrived, having set the table a few moments before.
"Hey, Soph!"
"Hello guys, I was about to say Make yourselves at home, but you already do every time"
"Very funny" Josh answered.
"What are we watching?" Hilary quickly asked before stealing the TV remote.
"Oh, I know! The last FAOI show of this year! I want to see Sophia's playing again!"
"You just want to see Yuzu" she replied to Josh, not really in the mood to be flooded with images of the man she was missing already.
"It's still a good enough reason! Any objections Hills?"
"You know I'm a fan too" she answered Josh almost immediately.
It was almost ironic that Sophia's best friends had been Yuzuru's fans for so long and probably knew random facts she had no idea about.
They ate while watching the intro. Sophia was thankful they didn't zoom in too much on her, she would for sure be too distracted watching the show from the stage and doing a terrible job hiding it.
Seeing him skate through the TV was different, allowing her to see different angles and his expressions from up close. Still, she wouldn't sacrifice seeing him live to see the recording.
The show was maybe halfway through, Josh and Hilary entertained on commenting each skater that appeared while Sophia just laughed at their reactions.
She was about to point something out when her phone buzzed.
'Hey, I just arrived home in Toronto. I hope rehearsal was good and that you're resting well.'
Sophia had a huge smile as she answered.
'I was only 5 minutes late, it was alright, we are playing some new songs'
'Guess I should come and see when you play them for the public'
'I would love it if you did'
'Shouldn't you be resting? It's late there"
Sophia took a quick sneaky photo of her two friends glued to the screen and sent it to him.
'I'm being forced to rewatch the show'
'Do I look good on the TV?'
'you always look good'
'Which one is it?'
'Last one'
'Oh, the ugly tears'
'It's ok now'
Yuzuru sent her a picture of him in the middle of the living room, the large screen of his TV in the background.
'Maybe I should watch it too?'
'As if you haven't watched it enough times' she texted, the man made sure to review his own skating videos time after time to make sure he knew what needed to be improved. 'how can you look that good after an 8-hour flight?'
'Just happens naturally' he replied, for sure smirking at his screen. 'Now for real, enjoy the night with your friends. If you have the time for us to talk tomorrow please call me? I love to hear your voice'
'Sounds like a plan. Rest Yuzu!'
'You too"'
Sophia stopped texting and found Josh staring directly at her.
"Are you texting your boyfriend right now instead of listening to me?"
"Huh, no"
"You were looking with such a stupid face at the screen...whoever this guy is, you're completely whipped.
