It was nearing eleven by the time the search party found us. We were laying on our backs, gazing up at the stars. Our dresses were covered with grass stains. I heard the clip clop of horses and saw five knights, on horseback.
"Lady Rose, and Lady Elizabeth, we have been ordered by the King to bring you back to court."
"We do not want to." Elizabeth said, stretching out lazily.
"Elizabeth, let's just go." I whispered. "I do not want them to drag us."
"We will come." We both stood up and allowed two knights to hoist us onto their horses behind them.
"Tsk tsk, running away from your husband on your wedding day. He won't be very happy, will he?" The man in front of me tutted.
"He will be fine, thank you sir."
"I doubt it, sweetheart. He seemed rather angry, going around asking everyone where you were. I don't blame him, if you were my wife, I'd give you a smack." I stayed stubbornly silent until we arrived back at the castle. I said goodbye to Elizabeth and then walked to my new husbands chambers. They were massive and spacious, they were the biggest in the castle-other than the Kings and my fathers. I entered in the chambers and curtsied in front of him. I saw that he'd already stripped down to his breeches and a shirt. I imagined having to make and darn his shirts, as was my 'wifely duty'.
"Shut the door." He snapped. I did so. "Explain yourself."
"What is there to explain, my lord."
"Well.. perhaps we'll start with why you chose to run out of the banquet hall, instead of politely socialising with the people at your wedding?"
"I did not wish to get married, my lord, therefore I made the decision not to attend my wedding banquet. I attended the ceremony, what else could you ask for?" I said sweetly. He held a hand up.
"Enough. It is time for bed. Strip." He stood there, staring at me coldly as I took off my gown. I was left only in my pure white shift, white roses embroidered on it. I slipped into bed, not wanting to expose myself fully to him. He got into bed beside me and I heard him unfastening his breeches. He hoisted himself on top of me and positioned himself between my thighs, thrusting roughly inside of me. I bit my lip in pain and felt it crack and begin to bleed. He continued to thrust, thrusting again and again, nuzzling into my neck as he released inside of me. I flinched, before finally screaming out. He pulled out of me and lay down, panting. I turned away, tears rolling down my cheeks.
"Do not turn your back to me." He snapped. I didn't respond. He grunted slightly and fell asleep. I couldn't believe I was now married to this man.
