CHAPTER 35: Shadows Over Horizon [Part 1]

The last morning has finally came!

Filled with the anticipation to finally return to their beloved home, but still carrying the fresh experiences and memories this wondrous kingdom offered, the diplomats and their escort prepared to leave.

It was an eventful few days for all, filled with new things, they never saw, or dared to dream. Things that could only exist in fantasy or an absurd science fictional work. All come true here.

Albeit most politicians and leaders were only here to discuss things, in the passing days, they had plenty of free time to enjoy and savor all the joys and luxury the Sorcerous Kingdom had to offer.

Food, drinks, entertainment! All benefited from these things. Even the busiest diplomat spent at least a day to explore the city, even the most dutiful politician found something to enjoy.

Escorted by a guide, all their questions had been answered on their day out. Their spending sponsored by the Sorcerer King himself!

As for Itami and the girls, these few days were like a vacation. For the girls, it was an enjoyable little trip, as they received everything that they wished for — for Itami's expense, of course.

Lelei gained entrance to the magical academy, already earning a good reputation in the circles of professors. Elevating from the grey averageness of other Sages visiting the academy with her wits and sharp mind.

Though her sister was still in a comatose state in stasis, Lelei gained an audience with the king, asking him to save Arpeggio — a request the Sorcerer King denied, for now at least, asking her to ponder on the problem, giving her pointers where to find the solution. Saying: if she absolutely can't save her, come back, and he will heal her. She will receive her reward for her hard work and diligent try.

After all, an eye for an eye, Lelei know the price, she needs to pay knowledge, with knowledge. But she was never a girl who gave up that easy, and she will be damned to do so now!

Rory, after her spectacular show in the arena, already started to become popular amongst the people, sought out by multiple sponsors to request further performances and matches. Indeed, she even found a few new fans, spreading the name of her lord further in this land.

Tuka filled her belly with many delicious cakes and different kinds of food, even trying out many specialties only available in the Sorcerous Kingdom. Gaining a new, enchanted bow, which made her aim more precise, and deadlier than any elf could naturally achieve — engineered towards her magical affinity of air.

As for Itami. The First Lieutenant was devastated. His job was not hard, as he only had to attend two meetings, and advise the diplomatic crew of Japan. What made him look exhausted was the hassle the girls dragged him through each day when they decided they were bored!

Not only did they spend all of his allowances; they even went as far as to participate in events he wanted not. Now then, one can hardly deny the request of a rampaging demi-goddess and a cute, but still headstrong elf girl.

Not speaking about the fact, the two always tried to sleep with him, Rory and Tuka, invading his room almost every night, arguing until they fell asleep on his bed!

Well, considering that they fell asleep on his bed, and Itami wouldn't want to be inappropriate, this left him with the only choice to sleep on the hard ground, making him look even more washed out and tired. More than he usually is after waking up. His only luck was the absence of Lelei after the first day — being she visited the academy most of the time, only rarely joining them.

"Haaah!" Itami yawned tiredly. If he thought he gained a paid vacation with this journey, well, he was sorely disappointed! He was more tired than before leaving the base.
