A kingdom far and wide did seek to own
A land they'd conquered, they called it home
But from the east, another power came
Their grip on colonies, they could not maintain

The colonies rose and fought with might
For independence, with all their right
They broke the chains that held them tight
And formed republics, no longer in plight

A war was waged, but freedom was their goal
The colonies united, one and whole
Their journey hard, but now they stand
No longer colonized, a free land.
