Giyuu didn't know what to expect when he went up that mountain, ready to hunt a demon. He expected a man-eating monster devouring human flesh, even if it was their own family. It was safe to say that he was surprised when he saw the bodies in the house, whole and intact, no signs of consumption.

He was taken aback, even more, when the human boy and girl protected the recently-turned demon. Giyuu was no fool. He could see how the girl moved and was slightly amazed by the girl's agility and reflexes.

She was no simple civilian. Those were the moves of someone who trained to fight, not someone who trained for health.

The unknown girl had pretty much seen him coming and had even been able to avoid his attempts to grab ahold of the demon girl.

Colour him impressed.

From her voice, he deduced that she was a girl. But he was uncertain, after all, how could an untrained human girl avoid his strikes?

Giyuu was the water pillar and his strength had caused an immense gust of wind to knock the others back once he sliced into the ground. But even so, the veiled girl was in control of her own movements. She had dug the soles of her shoes into the snow, into the frozen ground and held her place. She had rolled into a large tree of her own accord, by her own actions.

Not because she was pushed by the wind Giyuu had created.

He had held his katana in his hand as always, the position familiar and automatic. He wanted to ask why she specifically had chosen to protect the demon. Judging from her words to the burgundy-haired boy, she was not related to them. But even so, her figure that cradled the demon in her arms, not caring if the being clawed and slashed at her with their sharp nails, had struck something within him.

Why would you go so far, for someone you didn't even know? For a blood-thirsty demon who wanted nothing more but to kill?

Giyuu had seen her hold that broken blade in her hand. Even if the weapon had snapped in half, he couldn't help but raise his guard. There was familiarity behind her actions, just like how there was in Giyuu's.

There was something about her that made his brain tell him, stop, don't relax, she's not someone who you can underestimate.

It was probably the unique pressure that came from her, and he wasn't sure what it was.

However, Giyuu sensed no hostility from her.

The pillar assumed that she was glaring at him, or perhaps observing his every motion. And it unnerved him, how he felt like he was being picked apart and dissected in front of watchful eyes. The long veil should have affected her vision to an extent, but she still moved and reacted as if she could see everything from a bird's eye view.

There was something about her that put him on edge. Why didn't it seem like she was worried or scared?

Strange. He noted absentmindedly. But it wasn't like it mattered after he decapitated the demon's head.

"Nezuko...!!" The red-haired boy choked out, alarmed by the demon slayer's actions. And as soon as Tanjirou tried to take a step forward in his sister's direction, Tomioka narrowed his gaze.

Charlotte was faring better than Tanjirou for sure. The latter looked like he was about to have a seizure, which would've concerned her if it weren't for the fact that his reaction was relatively justified.
