It's the second part of Gin's story!! In case y'all have forgotten that ancient soul, maybe re-reading part 1 would be good to refresh ourselves, but part 2 outta 4 (I think... for now), so :D Here's some pure angst for y'all.
But what angst doesn't start with a little bit of fluff <3?
"Hiromi," Gin said, tending to his garden. Shovels and bags of fertiliser were littered around him, with various packs of seeds and sprouting flowers from the flower market in a few pots.
Hiromi hummed from where she removed the weeds growing in another patch of green. "What is it?"
"Why did you choose the name Mira?"
It was something that he had asked back when he lost the bet. Yet, back then, he never got a direct answer.
(Not like he really expected a straight answer from Hiromi. Somehow, Gin had the feeling that his wife found joy in watching him agonise over her mystifying and ambiguous responses.)
Hiromi's lips twitched, and the brown-haired man already knew he was going to lose this game. "Where's this coming from all of a sudden?"
Gin shrugged, his short hair bouncing with the movement. "I dunno, I guess it just popped into my mind." He tried to keep it casual, as if mentioning it offhandedly would raise the chances of Hiromi answering without being an enigma.
(Oh, that poor fool.)
Hiromi shook her head with a smile, eyes twinkling in mischief. "Who knows? Think about it some more."
Gin knew she was laughing at him on the inside. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"That's what you said last time..." He grumbled, his displeasure echoing in his movements, with the way he moved the spade and the way he packed the soil in.
"Well, it's no fun to just tell you the answer, is it?"
Green eyes closed in defeat.
He knew the characters of Mira's name, and he knew the meaning of each individual character, but if it wasn't for the fact that Hiromi had mentioned that she picked the name because it was something to do with Gin, he wouldn't be suffering in the way he was, trying to wrack his brains and come up with an answer.
It was like solving a puzzle, except Hiromi had kindly painted over the picture in white and threw in a couple of extra pieces from different puzzles just to mess with him.
"You're being so unfair," he sighed in a complaining tone. Nevertheless, his wife didn't budge.
"Figure it out yourself." She laughed that wonderful, tinkling laugh. "It's literally right in front of you, you just need to realise it." Hiromi added cryptically.
Really. Just what did he do to deserve this? Gin paused in his work, looking at all the plants he had brought from the market, including a small peach tree that their neighbour had gotten once he heard that they were replanting the garden.
