"What did you say to him?" Laila asked Amanda.

"Oh nothing. Just that you're a just a loser and he shouldn't waist his time on you." Amanda answered wryly.

Laila couldn't help feeling hurt by that. She quickly looked at Chance. He avoided her eyes guiltily.

She had never seen him look so small and helpless. She wanted to run and see him but another part of her wanted to spit in his face.

Looking back at Amanda, Laila almost yelled "Why did you come back?"

Hearing that her presence made Laila mad, Amanda smirked as she answered Laila's question.

"Well see I wanted to see you... No not really. You're not worth my time."

She added. "See when I heard you were dating Chance, I decided that I could make him realize what a waste you are. At first he was resistant but then he started wanting to see me. "

Laila couldn't help looking at Chance for a moment. When their eyes met, she wanted to cry.

"But what did I ever do to you?" she asked Amanda accusingly. "All you ever did was torment me and ruin my life!"

"Well you see. After I got expelled my foster parents decided they didn't want to take care of me anymore. So I went into the care of Chance's friend's aunt. So I heard about him and you, and it made me realize, that after I left, you had won. I was miserable and you went on with your life."

Laila could hear the anger in her voice.

"So I decided I was going to hurt you in a way that would leave you heartbroken." she added in an evil grin.

Hearing rustling behind her, Laila turned around and saw Chance running out the front doors. Following him with her eyes she felt a deep pang in her heart.

No. I won't let her win this time. -she thought.

Looking back at Amanda, Laila felt sudden fury toward the girl. Bigger than it had ever been. She wanted to see her die. Although that was quite gruesome, Laila wished Amanda would just disappear.

"What?" Amanda laughed. "Have I already got you crying? "

Laila shut her eyes keeping the tears from coming.

I wish she would disappear. Just go away and leave me alone.

Laila felt a jolt of energy go through her and she herd a scream.

Opening her eyes Laila saw Amanda on the floor and her shirt had a big burn hole right in the middle that was still sizzling.

Looking down at her hand, she saw it was smoking.

Panicking, Laila turned to run to the bathroom and walked into Kayla who was looking at her in astonishment.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Laila asked in confusion.

Kayla stayed motionless.

"You really don't know what you are do you?" she heard Amanda asking behind her.

She whirled around to face her again.

"What are you talking about?" Laila ordered.

"You poor ignorant creature. You really have no idea." Amanda said seeing Laila's confusion.

"You're still as self-centered and alone in your little human world that you don't even know where you're from." Amanda added.

Laila thought she was imagining it but Amanda had actually grown taller within seconds and was now growing talons.

"What the hell?" Laila muttered.

Amanda grinned a wicked smile full of needle long teeth. She had now grown to a full seven feet and her eyes were red.

Trying to blink what she was seeing away, Laila realized she wasn't hallucinating.

"Oh my god. What are you?" she cried.

Turning to run away she saw Kayla. She was as white as a sheet and was frozen in place.

Laila wanted to shake her and to tell her to run but she didn't have time. One second Laila was standing and the next she was flung across the hall and she smashed into the lockers.

" You're pathetic. " she heard someone say.

She looked up and saw that the thing that had spoken was in fact Amanda's transformed body that was staring down at her with red beady eyes.

"Oh my God." she whispered.

The thing smiled a crooked grin. "Poor little Laila. You don't know what you are do you."

What is she talking about? - thought Laila.

As the creature turned around, Laila spotted a wound at the top of its tail.

She jumped to her feet and kicked the wound.

The creature's scream sent a shiver down Laila's back but she had bought some time. She ran to Kayla and grabbed her arm and pulled her to the door.

Suddenly, Laila's grasp on Kayla's arm got free and Kayla shrieked.

Without thinking, Laila turned and punched at the first thing she could hit, but instead of a punch, she sent a huge explosion that cracked the ground beneath their feet.

"What the?-" she muttered.

Where the creature stood, the floor had begun to crack and fall. Still in the monster's grasp, Kayla was motionless.

"Let her go!" Laila screamed desperately.

The monster looked and her and smiled. It was a very cruel smile that reminded Laila of Amanda. She ran to the monster and flung herself towards its head.
