Darien knew something was wrong as soon as his ring froze.

His father had given him the ring and he now wore it all the time. His father never called him back to the palace by the ring. It was always an air-message or an elf messenger.

As he flew towards the castle, Darien thought of his sister's new sparkle in her wing. She had already pierced her wings three times so far and their mother had forbidden her to get another. But of course, Nixie disobeyed as usual.

He was the more responsible of the two but Nixie had many friends and was fun to be around and Darien had Elvey but not many other friends. He was a shy person and quite self-conscious although he was quite beautiful as everyone always told him.

Pushing away his thoughts of jealousy, Darien started to wonder why his father could be calling him back to the palace.

Was it an invasion? Was mother sick? Was he in trouble? If he was in trouble, Nixie probably did something and framed him. She tended to do that but everyone knew Darien hadn't done anything because he never did.

Arriving at the palace, he was greeted by a worn looking Elvey that was giving him a worried look.

"Whats wrong?" His friend asked anxiously.

"I'm not sure yet but I don't think it's very good." Darien answered back.

The two friends walked through the grand entrance of the palace and went straight to the throne where sat Darien's father.

His father was the Faerie King of Borroway Castle. He was a very powerful man that was respected by everyone throughout the kingdom.

"What is it Father?" Darien asked worriedly.

His father looked quite shaken and that troubled Darien because he always looked relaxed and confident but now, it's as if someone had striped that all away from him.

"Come in my library." He told Darien as he got up from his throne and made his way towards the library at the end of the Hall.

As they walked down the Hall, one of the elf servants came running towards them. "King Aelfric, Prince Darien! We have a problem."

The servant said between breaths. "We've located Demon activity in Ottawa, Ontario. One of ours has also been registered in that area, but she isn't someone we know."

Darien turned to his father, "Who could it be?"

The King muttered something to himself, then looked down at the elf, "Find me a direct location and I'll send Darien and Elvey."

As the elf ran back the way he came, Darien's father looked at him in the eyes, "Darien. Listen to me. Go to Ottawa with Elvey, find the girl and demon and bring her back to the palace."

Now his father's voice became very serious. "Be very careful. I have a feeling this demon may be quite powerful and make sure the girl comes back safely. When you come, send her to me."

Turning away from him, Darien heard his father say something quickly under his breath.

Right away, Darien ran to see Elvey.

He found Elvey in the outer garden.

"Elvey! I'm so glad I found you."

"Why? What's wrong?" Elvey asked worriedly.

"We have a mission." Darien said, directing his friend to follow him quickly.

"Sooo? Are you going to tell me what it is?" Elvey asked anxiously.

"Pack a fresh set of underwear bud. We're off to Canada." Darien instructed.

His friend laughed as they flew to the Portal.

"Ladies first." Darien said sarcastically.

"Why thank you kind sir." Elvey answered dramatically.

They both jumped through the Portal and it opened into a high school.

"What the hell?" Darien exclaimed.

They looked around.

"Do you smell that?" Elvey said.

"Demons." Darien, disgusted, spat on the floor.

Suddenly, they heard a girl scream.

They ran down the hallway.

The stench was stronger now and Elvey's Demon necklace was glowing.

They rounded the corner and the scene in front of them was horrible.

A girl laid motionless on the floor near the wall. She was all bloody and her hot pink dress was ripped down the side. In other circumstances, Darien would've been automatically intrigued but now wasn't the time.

Then they saw it.

A Greater Demon was a few feet away from the girl and it was hissing and screaming.

"Let her go!" They heard a girl scream.

They turned their heads and saw her.

A tall slim girl, quite pretty actually Darien thought, came out of the shadows and was standing in her gold dress and heels. Her long brown hair was waving down to her lower back and her big blue eyes were shining with anger towards the Greater Demon.

She was glowing. Literally. There was a rainbow of glittery light twirling around.

Then the girl lunged towards the demon who just hit her aside.

The girl crumpled to the ground near her friend.

That's enough. -thought Darien.

He moved away from the corner and took action.
