Scared

It was midnight and Rohit didn't know what had woke him up. It was a week they had the treatments and side effects of it. Seniors knew but juniors didn't yet.

There was some shuffling noise, he saw at his side and Virat was not there. He got up quickly as he had terrible headache before sleeping.

"Vi", he called out softly as he saw Virat in the corner of the room hugging his knees and burying his head in that.

"Ro.. someone was there.. I saw.. taking Mahi bhai away.. Ro.. where is Mahi bhai? Someone took him away.. do something", Virat whispered still hiding his face in his knees.

Rohit was shocked to see that. But he calmed himself first. He called Mahi bhai, who had woken up from his sleep to come to Virat's room so that he would be assured.

"Vi.. look up! See am here and Mahi bhai bhi aa rahe hai.. listen to me", Rohit said cupping his cheeks.

"Get up from the floor, its cold", Rohit said softly as if he was explaining a child. He helped him and took him to bed.

"Turn.. on the lights.. someone was there.. I saw the shadow.. you have to believe me", Virat said cuddling to him and pointing to a dark direction.

Rohit turned on the lights.

"I believe you.. abhi koi nhi hai okay. I am here and Mahi bhai is also here", Rohit said as Mahi arrived in the room.

"Cheeku", Mahi called softly.

"Bhai..", Virat called out and extended his one hand still cuddling to Rohit as he held him closer.

Mahi held that hand of his and said, "kya hua kiddo, see am here with you"

Mahi and Rohit were so scared to see Virat so out of it that now he needed physical assurance that they were with him.

"He has fever Ro", Mahi said as he held his hand.

"I know bhai and that probably is messing with his head. He is not leaving me that's why I cannot get anything like cold water, I have called bhuvi, he is coming in 5 mins", Rohit said as Virat was holding him tightly.

"Ro.. please tell them not take you away", Virat mumbled.

"No one is taking me away Vi.. I am here na! You just listen to my voice okay", Rohit said caressing his hair to which Virat nodded weakly.

Bhuvi along with Jaddu and Ash came in the room.

Mahi told them to get cold water and strips. Jaddu to call Virat's doctor and talk about the fever as it seemed pretty high.

"Vi.. you have fever, leave me and lay down for a bit please", Rohit said as it was difficult to apply cold strips.

"No please.. dont ask me to leave you.. dont do this Ro pls", Virat said panicking.

Rohit rubbed his back trying to calm his breathing down.

"I am here only.. please Vi.. calm down", Rohit said still keeping his nerves calm as others were too shocked to see Virat like that.

Nothing worked and Virat fell unconsicous.

Mahi called ambulance and he along with Rohit took Virat to the hospital and others followed the ambulance as quickly as they could.

"Where.. are.. we?", Virat opened his eyes and looked at the unfamiliar room.

"Ro.. Rohit.. Mahi bhai..", he screamed not finding them near him.

"Shhh.. Vi.. Cheeku we are here", Rohit and Mahi said together.

"Why we are here.. I want to go back.. to hotel.. home wherever.. I don't want to be here", Virat said panicking again.

"Vi calm down please listen to me.. normal check up it is", Rohit said rubbing his knuckles.

"But everything is aching Ro..", he said tiredly.

"I know.. its gonna pass Vi", Rohit said.

Rohit suddenly felt so tired as he was trying everything to assure Virat. He was there with him at every single step. Sometimes it was so exhausting to be awake most of the nights, to talk whole night just to distract Virat from the pain.

But he was determined to be with him till he gets okay, he would do anything till his best friend is okay.

His thoughts were broken by scream of Virat which caused him to bolt out of his chair.

"No.. where are they taking me? No.. Ro you said you are not gonna go away from me.. No please No.. ROHIT.. MAHI BHAIII.. PLEASEEEE.."ROHITTTT.. ROOO.., Virat screamed as they were taking him for scans.

Mahi just could not control his tears hearing that vulnerable screams.

Doctor has just informed them that Virat's vitals were not looking good and they had to take him for some MRI scans to inspect the tumor cells.

Jaddu hugged Mahi tightly.

Rohit knew this was not the time for crying. He had to be strong. He rushed to Virat as he was screaming his heart out.

"Vi.. shhh.. dekh mai yahi hu.. I am with you! Just normal check up hai Vi, scans and everything. It will be over within an hour", Rohit said calmly caressing his hair.

"Don't leave me alone in there.. it is scary please", Virat pleaded with tears in his eyes, gripped Rohit's hand tightly.

Rohit suddenly felt himself prepared to do everything he could take his worry and tears away.

"I will be there with you for the whole time I promise", Rohit said after getting the doctor's approval.

They needed Virat to be calm to conduct the tests and if Rohit is there it would help them.

Mahi looked so proud at that time seeing Rohit handling everything better than him. He was also scared regarding the same.

"Promise", Virat asked again slurring as they injected him with medicine.

"Yes promise.. when you wake up, I will be just here by your side for the whole time", Rohit said gripping his hand tightly and Virat drifted into unconsciousness.

Rohit took a sigh of relief as he had assured Virat. Mahi kept his hand on his shoulder and Rohit just hugged him by his waist.

"He is gonna be okay", Mahi murmured.

"I know that", Rohit said.

Mahi was scared hearing that. He believed that himself, but Rohit being so strong was a bit terrifying.
