A few days later, while at school, I was sitting with my friends during lunch and Angela was talking about something she had seen in the wood, she said it was a bear or something, nobody believed her, except me, until Bella walked over and said that Charlie had been getting reports about it. Then we all got invited to a movie and we were all going.
Mike, Jake, and I were standing by the door waiting for Bella to come back.
"So, "Face Punch", huh?" Jake asked. "You like action movies?" I watched ask Mike fumble over his words.
"Not really." He admitted.
"Then why did you agree to watch it? We could have seen something else. I heard it sucks. Bad." I softly kicked his calf. "Dumbass."
"Hey, are you even old enough to see this movie? I mean, you know, without adult supervision?" The blonde asked, looking at Jake.
"Right, yeah. Well, she's buying my ticket for me." He said, leaning against the wall.
"She's buying it, okay." He looked down.
"And you were supposed to buy mine." I poked his shoulder. He grumbled under his breath.
"Sorry, Daisy. I forgot. I'll go get you a ticket." He started to walk off toward the ticket booth, but I grabbed his arm.
"It's fine. Just sneak me in. It's cheaper that way." I shrugged and stood next to Jake. Bella walked over.
"Jessica bailed and Angela's got the stomach flu so Eric's taking care of her. So, it's just us four." The girl said as she put her phone in her pocket.
"Great." Mike said with a small smile. "Great."
"Alright. So, y'all are sneakin' me in 'cause Mikey here forgot to buy me a ticket, and payin' for one less person is a little bit cheaper." I clapped my hands together. "More money for food. Let's go." The four of us quickly headed inside, the older three laughing at my child-like excitement. Not my fault I haven't been able to hang out with my best friends. The three of us haven't seen a movie in theaters since the end of the summer.
Timeskip
The movie sucked. Majorly. Like, the action was horrible. It was just awful. Not to mention, I was wearing shorts and tights so I was cold and I didn't bring a blanket with me. The closest thing I had to a heat source was Jacob. His body was very warm. Like Paul's is. Merely thinking about him caused a smile to fall on my face.
"Okay, I think I'm gonna throw up." I heard Mike say from three seats down before he got up and rushed out of the theater. I quickly followed him. I watched as he rushed into the men's bathroom, Bella and Jake not too far behind me in exiting the screen room.
"What a marshmallow?" Jake laughed. "You should hold out for someone with a stronger stomach."
"Jake, that's mean. He's probably just sick. Has the flu or something and decided to come out anyway." I scolded the older boy. "I'm gonna go check on him. I'll be back." Without another word, I bit my tongue and walked into the bathroom. "Mikey? Where you at, hun?" The sound of vomiting directed me to the very last stall. Aww, poor guy. I walked down to the end, avoiding the gaze of the men using the urinals, and pushed open the stall door. The boy was leaning over the toilet bowl heaving. "Oh, you poor thing." I rubbed his back, trying to give him some sense of comfort.
"Daisy, what are you doing in here?" The boy asked.
"I came to make sure you were ok. You ran out pretty fast." I noted. He got up and walked over to the sink to clean himself up. "Were you feeling sick before the movie?" He paused in washing his hands and slowly nodded. "You sure all the blood and gore didn't gross you out?"
"It's the reason I threw up if that's what you're asking." He looked at me through the mirror.
"I'm not trying to make fun of you, Mike. I just wanna know if you've got a cold or something." I walked up and leaned on the counter next to him. "And why you decided to come out if you weren't feeling well."
"I was trying to land a date with Bella." He snapped. My smile dropped.
"Oh, honey." I smiled at him sadly. I thought for a moment before speaking again. "Can I give you some friendly advice?" The boy shrugged and nodded. "Don't go for the girls that don't give you the time of day. Go for someone that makes you feel special and wanted. Like Jessica."
"Jess?" He asked. I nodded.
"That girl is head over heels for you." I took a deep breath. "She talks about you all the time. Won't shut up about you." I laughed. "Point is, Bella doesn't like you that way and I don't think she ever will. So don't waste your time on someone who doesn't want you that way." Mike put his coat on.
"Don't have to be so blunt about it, jeez." He muttered. I chuckled.
"I don't sugarcoat things. I tell it how I see it." I grabbed his arm. "Now, let's go out there, tell them that you're sick, and get you home. I'll drive."
"But you're 15, you don't have a license." The 18-year-old looked at me.
"I've been driving tractors and shitty pickup trucks since I was 10. I know how to drive." I chuckled at his confused face and we walked out of the bathroom together. Bella and Jake were sitting on the stairs when we walked out.
"Well...I need to go home." Mike said. Jake sighed in annoyance. "I'm... I was feeling sick before the movie, okay?" Jake just stared at him, a hint of anger in his eyes. "W-What is your problem?"
"Right now? You're my problem. Feelin' sick? Maybe you need to go to the hospital." The boy stood up quickly. "Do you want me to put you in the hospital?" Mike backed up, dragging me with him, away from the angry Quileute boy. Bella grabbed his arm and tried to pull him back.
"Jake... Jake, the movie's over. What are you doing?" She asked. Her hand slid down his arm and into his hand. "Jake, you're really hot. Like, you feel like you have a fever. Are you okay?" The younger of the two looked down at himself in shock.
"I don't know what's happening." He said slowly. "I gotta go." He walked out of the theater, leaving us alone. Mike scoffed and looked at the boys retreating figure.
"That dude is weird." He shook his head. Bella said nothing as she grabbed her jacket and walked toward the door, quickly stopping to look at me.
"You coming, Daisy?" She asked and I shook my head.
"Nah. I'm gonna drive him home and make sure he gets there safe and sound." I waved my hand at her. "I'll call my nana and ask her to come pick me up. I'll be alright." She shrugged and walked out of the theater herself. Mike looked at me.
"Should I trust your driving skills?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. Gimme your keys. I don't want you driving with your sick. You could throw up on the side of the road and then pass out of exhaustion and the wolves could get you. Or the bears." I told him. "We'd never see you again." The boy reluctantly handed me his keys and I drove him home, explaining to his mother what had happened and calling my nana for a ride. She scolded me on the way home for my illegal driving but praised me for being a good friend.
