Later that day, I found myself in Paul's truck as the two of us made our way to Emily's house. I was sitting on the passenger side, arm over where the window usually is. My head was half stuck out the window and I watched as the trees outside flew by as he sped down the road. The leather seats were cool beneath my bare legs, although they had begun to stick and it was getting annoying. I pulled my legs up to my chest, successfully unsticking my legs to the seat. So much better.

"Why are we going to Emily's house?" I asked. He hadn't told me why we were going, he just told me that we were going there and quite literally put me in the truck. His excuse for picking me up and placing me in the truck himself? "You're just so much smaller than me." The boy sighed beside me.

"The guys and I have to patrol more land. With the Cullen's gone, we have to go over there and patrol in Forks." Paul began. "And it would make all of us, especially me, feel better if you were with the other im- uh girls... while we're out." I turned my head to look at him at his stuttering.

"Is there something you haven't told me?" I asked him with a raised eyebrow. He shifted in his seat and gripped the steering wheel tighter. I sighed and looked out the window. "Of course, there is."

"I'll tell you, eventually. I just... I don't wanna tell you everything, overwhelm you, and make you panic." I saw Paul look at me from my peripheral vision. "I'm not trying to hide anything from you, Daisy. This thing is really big and I just want you to get used to all of this first." I gave him a sideways glance and sighed, seeing him looking at me with the sort of puppy eyes only a wolf shapeshifter could give.

"Fine," I grumbled. "But for the sake of your balls, you had better tell me soon." His face visibly paled. He gulped.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Never call me that again. It makes me feel old." I groaned. "I'm 15, for Christ's sake."

"Alright. Fine." Paul looked back at the road. How we hadn't crashed yet with him looking at me, I didn't know. Maybe he's just that good. "I wanna give you a nickname. I'm gonna call you Flower."

"Off limits. My friends back home call me Flower Petal. Petal or Flower for short." I shook my head. "Think of something different." The boy seemed to deflate but stayed silent as he thought.

"Can I call you by your middle name?" He asked. I snorted and playfully rolled my eyes.

"You don't know my middle name." I looked at him.

"It's May."

"No, it's not."

"What?" He looked at me, confused. "Daisy May Beauregard."

"Daisy-May is my first name." I laughed as he smacked himself in the face.

"God, I'm stupid." He groaned. "How was that not obvious?"

"To be fair, it's not obvious to a lot of people. Everyone up here thinks that May is my middle name." I cleared my throat. "My middle name is Wren." He slowed down a bit as we got closer to the road leading to Emily's house. He hummed.

"Daisy-May Wren Beauregard." He shot a smile in my direction as he turned. "That's really pretty. Isn't that a type of bird?"

"Mhmm." I looked out the window as we parked in front of the house and I unbuckled. "My nana, Nana Chrissy, used to call me Little Birdie when I was a kid." I watched as Jared ran out of the house and up to the truck.

"Can I call you Little Bird then? Or just Wren?" Paul asked as he grabbed the door handle. Before I could respond, the door opened and I was picked up and carried out of the truck. By Jared.

"Ah! No, put me down!" I screamed while laughing and when I say that Paul flew out of the truck and was over by us so damn fast, I mean it. He was over here so quickly, it was like I blinked and he was gone. Paul's hand gripped the back of Jared's neck.

"Jared, you have 10 seconds to put her down before I whoop your ass so hard, you won't be able to leave your bed for a goddamn week." The arm under my legs dropped and my feet hit the ground. The arm around my back stayed so I could steady myself but disappeared when I pulled away. "Atta boy."

"Thank you, Paul. But next time don't threaten him." I straightened the sleeves of my shirt. "It's not necessary."

"But you screa-" I cut him off.

"I was startled, not scared. I was perfectly fine, sweet pea." I ruffle his hair. "And to answer your question like I was about to when I was so rudely ripped from the truck, you can call me Wren every now and again if you want to."

"Perfect." Paul smiled at me. Jared looked at us confused.

"Are you two toge-'' Paul quickly slapped his hand over the other boy's mouth, glaring at him.

"No. We're not. And I'm not gonna push her on it. She doesn't know yet. Shut up." Paul hissed. Jared's eyes widened and he pushed Paul's hand off of his mouth.

"What do you mean she doesn't know yet? Why haven't you told her?" Jared questioned the other boy, who was beginning to growl at him.

"It doesn't matter. Mind your busi-"

"Whatever it is that he hasn't told me, he won't tell me until I get used to all of this stuff first. Being surrounded by werewolves-"

"-Shapeshifters-" Both boys corrected me, causing me to roll my eyes.

"-and vampires are a lot to take in. He explained all the wolf stuff and the treaty last night before I got tired and he told me to go to bed."

"She's staying at my house until she feels like she can trust her leech of a grandmother enough to go back home. Though, I would feel better and prefer it if you just stayed with me at my house forever." Paul looked at Jared then at me for the last bit. Jared began snickering before Paul elbowed him in the stomach. "Dude, she called me a goddamn mutt."

"What? Oh, that bitch!" Jared groaned out due to his new stomach pain.

"Well, sadly, I can't stay with you forever, Paul. Only because I can't move out until I'm 18." I looked up at him with an exaggerated pout. "So too damn bad, sugar." I placed my hand on his cheek and he playfully tried to bite it before I quickly snatched it away. "And don't shit talk my grandmother. She may be a vampire and a liar, but she's still my family."

"Let's get you inside. The boys and I need to head out." Paul chuckled and wrapped his arm around me, leading me toward Emily's house. "And please, for the love of God, stay at the house, Daisy."

"Why would I leave the house?" I asked.

"You're a very curious individual. And tend to do dumb things. Like yesterday." Paul playfully narrowed his eyes at me. I glared at him.

"I have already apologized for that. Let it go." Paul smiled and rubbed my shoulder.

"I know, but still. For both our sake and sanity, stay at the house and do not go into the woods for whatever reason." I never had the chance to answer him as we entered the house. Let's hope today goes well.
