Minutes turned to hours, hours turned to days, and days turned to weeks. Paul would drive me to school in the morning and in the afternoon, he'd pick me up and drive me to Emily's place, where I'd do homework and hang out with Emily and Kim until Sam and the boys got back from patrol.

During the time I was spending with the girls, I'd finally stopped opposing Sam and started behaving, which I'm sure he appreciated with him having to hunt Victoria down every day and never catching her. He'd sat me down one day and explained to me why he'd broken up with her in the first place. To protect her. She didn't know about the wolves and he didn't wanna hurt her by accident. So I stopped being a total menace.

"Ok, why the teachers assign homework up here is a complete mystery to me," I grumble, slamming my chemistry book shut. "Back in Texas, the only homework we had was unfinished classwork. So I never had to do "homework"."

"Well, this is Washington. Things are a lot different here than in Texas. I'm sure you've noticed, sweetie." Emily said, placing a plate with a tuna sandwich on it next to me.

"Yeah, well, it's stupid." I huffed, mumbling a 'thank you' before eating my lunch. It was a semi-warm Saturday, as warm as Washington could get in the middle of spring. I was wearing skinny jeans, a cream-colored long-sleeved sweater with over-the-shoulder straps, and zip-up boots that I'd recently gotten.

Scratch that, that Paul had bought me simply because I said they looked cute. He also bought me a few other things that I liked but didn't ask for. The boy probably would've bought me a car if I'd asked him to. The sound of the phone ringing brought me out of my thoughts.

"I'll get it, Emily." I said, quickly rushing to the phone, and answering it. "Young residence, Daisy-May speakin'. Who's this and how can I help you?"

"Just the person I was wanting to talk to." My Nana Rosemary's voice came from the phone and I almost hung up immediately.

"Rose, lose this number, and don't call again." I pulled the phone away from my ear and went to hang up.

"Wait, Daisy! Don't hang up on me yet." She pleaded. I sighed and put the phone back to my ear.

"What?" I said, nearly growling it out. Emily turned to me. I pulled the receiver away from my mouth. "It's Rosemary."

"Oh dear."

"Daisy, please. Let me explain everything to you." The vampire pleaded. "I promise, I'll tell you everything."

"I'm not goin' back to Forks without Paul. Not only do I not want to, he wouldn't let me if I tried." I huffed. "He's been real protective as of late."

"Ahh. That'll be that stupid wolf imprint bond." She muttered. My brows furrowed.

"Imprint?" Emily looked back at me, her eyes wide.

"Nothing. I'd like to talk to you. Please, Daisy." Rosemary said again.

"Yeah, I've gathered that. Where and when?" I rolled my eyes. This woman's gettin' on my nerves.

"Meet me at the treaty line when the mutts get back." Rosemary hissed.

"Call 'em mutts again, and you can kiss me goodbye!" I exclaimed.

"Fine. When the wolves get back." She corrected herself. I sighed and pulled the phone away from my ear, covering the receiver.

"How would Paul react if I told him that Rosemary wanted to see me?" I whispered to Emily and she immediately grimaced. I bit my lip and put the phone back to my ear. "Alright. I'll tell the boys when they get home and I'll text you when we're on our way."

"Thank you, Daisy. I really appreciate it." The vampire said. I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, whatever." I slammed the phone back into place and sighed. "The boys are gonna flip out."

"Yeah, and you get to tell them right now." Emily pointed outside the sliding doors and I saw the boys coming out of the trees.

"Oh, goody." I grumbled and walked onto the porch. "Y'all might wanna stay outside for a minute."

"What, did you destroy the kitchen?" Jared joked, making Embry laugh.

"No, but I don't think Emily would appreciate you phasin' in her house." I crossed my arms and leaned against the post. "'Cause I'm 'bout to tell you somethin' that's probably gon' piss ya off."

"What happened? Are you ok?" Paul asked, stepping toward me. I took a step back and he stopped. "Wren?"

"You might wanna stay there." I tightened my grip on myself. "Rose wants to talk to me." Paul immediately shook his head.

"Over my dead body." He scoffed. "The hell does she wanna talk about anyway?"

"She wants to tell me the truth so that way I go back home." I uncrossed my arms and shoved my hands in my pockets. "And I told her that I'd only go if y'all came with me."

"What? You agreed to it?!" Paul shouted. Sam put his arm in front of the boy, holding him back.

"I did. I'm givin' her a chance to come clean and tell me everything she's lied to me about." I stepped off the porch. "Then I'll think about goin' home." The boy began breathing heavily and shaking.

"Paul, calm down." Sam said to him.

"No, let him get angry. It ain't healthy to bottle up emotions." As I said that, the boy shifted and turned into a wolf. But he didn't run, he just started pacing the yard. "Paul lay down and listen." I walked toward him. Sam tried to stop me but I dodged his arm, placing my hand, palm up, in front of the wolf's face. "You can stay like this, but listen to me, okay?" The gray wolf huffed and flicked his head up, his nose barely brushing my hand. "Thank you."

"How'd you do that?" Embry asked.

"Not sure, but also not too important at the moment." I ran my hand through the fur on Paul's neck. "As I was sayin', I wanna give her a chance to come clean. And I told her that there was no way that Paul would let me go to Forks without him. So, we're going to meet her at the treaty line in the woods. Like, right now." Paul grumbled beside me, his body vibrating under my hand. "Zip it, dog boy." He growled at me. "Growl at me again and I'mma flick you on the nose."

"If we're gonna meet the leech, then we need to go now. I'd like to be home in time for dinner." Sam said as he walked toward the house. "I'll be out in a second." I nodded.

"Y'all stayin' like that or are you phasin', too?" I asked, looking at the other three boys.

"I think having Paul as a wolf is fine for now." Jared shrugged his shoulders. "He's the most agile out of all of us so if something were to come after us, he could get you out while we fight it off."

"Dude, don't say that in front of Paul. You're gonna send him into a frenzy." Embry shoved him. Paul stepped closer to me, practically wrapping himself around my body protectively. "See? Look what you did!"

"Shut up and let's go. I wanna get this over with." I rolled my eyes at them and stepped away from Paul. He was quick to snag my jeans with his teeth, pulling me back. I grunted. "Rip these jeans and it'll be the last thing you ever do on this earth." He let go and rubbed his head against my side. I huffed out a laugh and rubbed his head. "You're cute." His ears perked up and flicked toward me, making me laugh more. "Yeah. An adorable puppy."
