The dining room and kitchen grew silent as I stepped inside. Emily, Sam, the boys, and a random girl all looked at me.

"You, c'mere." Paul beaconed the unknown girl toward us.

"I have a name, Pauline." The girl glared up at Paul, amusement twinkling in her eyes.

"I know," Paul smirked. "Daisy, this is-" the girl's hand shot toward me.

"Hi, I've heard a lot about you from Jared. You slapped Sam in the face?" I laughed and shook her hand.

"I did. I'm Daisy-May. Call me Daisy." I took my hand back and smiled at her.

"Kimberly Connweller. Call me Kim. I'm Jared's girlfriend, soulmate, and future wife." The tan girl smiled wildly. Before I could say anything, she was pulled away from us, giggling loudly as Jared picked her up and began showering her with kisses.

"Damn right, you are, baby!" The boy exclaimed. "I don't know how long I can wait for that day, though. How about we say screw it and get married now. Drop outta high school and travel."

"No, Jared. Unlike you, I'd like to graduate." Kim giggled as Jared kissed her neck.

"Are they always like this?" I whispered to Paul.

"You betcha." He nodded his head and led me toward the pack alpha and his fiancée. "Sam, Daisy would like to say something to you."

"I don't know what the hell you're talking about. I don't have anything to say to him." I looked at the wolf behind me, crossing my arms.

"What did we talk about this morning?" Paul raised an eyebrow at me, gently reminding me of the conversation we'd had while eating breakfast. I groaned.

"I shouldn't have to. It was completely justifiable on my part. He's the one that was an asshole to Leah." A look of realization crossed Sam's face.

"Paul, it's fine. She doesn't need to apologize. Especially if she's not gonna mean it." Sam looked at me knowingly. "I have a feeling that if she truly felt sorry about it and felt like she was in the wrong, she'd swallow her pride and apologize on her own time."

"I'm glad that you seem to know me so well." I made a face at the man. "I don't like you for what you did to Leah, but I can play nice if it means that I can hang out around here with the guys and stay away from Rosemary."

"Wonderful. Hopefully, you can see that I never wanted to hurt Leah. I really did love her, but..." he trailed off and looked at Emily. He seemed like he was looking at an angel on Earth.

"Emily was the one." Paul finished. I turned and looked at the boy behind me, seeing that he was similarly looking at me. I blushed and looked away from the three of them.

"Yeah, whatever. Just know that if it comes down to you or Leah, I'm choosin' her every time." I crossed my arms. "Are y'all supposed to be going on patrol or something?"

"Yes, we are." Sam nodded and detached himself from his fiancée. "Boys!" Jake, Paul, Jared, and Embry all snapped their heads toward their alpha. "Jake said that the redheaded leech is after Bella, so we need to extend our patrol times. That being said, all of us are going on patrol right now, when it's over, two of you are going to stay out for an extra couple hours. Jake, Paul, that'll be you two." Both boys groaned. "Quite your whining."

"Uhh, I think someone should swap places with Paul." Sam and Paul looked at me. "He's only running on a couple of hours of sleep. So Paul should come back and someone else should stay with Jake."

"Daisy, I'll be fine. I'll just sleep in tomorrow." Paul shook his head at me. "Relax."

"No. You didn't get enough sleep, and albeit it's partly my fault, you shouldn't be out and about tracking down a vampire when you're tired. You could get killed." I looked at him and Sam.

"She has a point. It's not smart." Jared cleared his throat. "I'd be fine running with Jake."

"You sure, man? I swear, I'll be fine doing it." Paul looked at the other boy. Jared just waved his hand at him, making Paul smile. "Thanks, man."

"Are you finished?" Sam looked at everyone. "Daisy, in the future, don't interfere with how I run this pack."

"How 'bout you start thinkin' about the teenagers you boss around and the fact that they all go to school still, and maybe I'll think about it." I crossed my arms, cocked my hip, and looked at him. Sam glared at me and opened his mouth to speak but the sound of someone clearing their throat cut him off and we looked over at the person, Embry. He jerk his thumb toward his left and we both looked over to see Paul with the dirtiest look on his face. But he wasn't looking at me, he was looking at Sam.

He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, pulling me to his chest tightly. "Watch it, Sam." He growled. I looked at them both, confused as hell.

"Well, the testosterone levels in this house are too high." I pulled away from Paul. "So all of you, get out." The boys all looked at me like I had grown a second head. "Did I stutter? Out!" They scrambled out of their seats and began to rush out the sliding doors, though Paul didn't leave without placing a kiss on the top of my head before rushing outside. The only one who didn't leave was Sam. I raised my eyebrow at him. "You've got shit to do, old man. Get out and leave the house to us women."

"Child, you're walking on thin ice."

"Well, that's too bad. From what I was told this morning, I don't like how you're running things 'round here. Makin' them run around the forest in the middle of the night on a school night?" I shook my head at him. "Unbelievable."

"Daisy-"

"Sam, honey. You need to go. The boys are waiting." Emily placed her hand on the man's shoulder. "We'll see you later." Sam looked at her and took a deep breath, calming down. He placed a kiss on her forehead before shooting me a glare and walking outside where he phased. In his place, stood a large black wolf. Next to him was Paul, his wolf face staring at me. I stepped outside and walked up to him.

"You should get goin', too, Paul." I placed my hand on his muzzle. "I'll be alright here." I pet his nose. Sam barked and Paul whined, grumbling at him. "G'on, Paul. I don't want him making you stay out late tonight." the wolf whined again, pressing his nose to my stomach before following Sam into the woods.

"Daisy, come back inside. I gotta know all about you because you and I are gonna be best friends for life." Kim shouted from the kitchen. I chuckled and walked back inside.

"Well, there ain't much to tell. I'm just a girl from a small town in Texas." I sighed and sat at the dining room table. "I have two friends back home that I should probably text, and I've been friends with them since we were in kindergarten."

"There's no way that that's it." Kim shook her head and demanded that I tell her everything about me. I quickly texted Georgia and Austin, telling them what was going on and where I was, even though they couldn't get to me, and I told her and Emily about my life before I moved here like I had done this morning with Paul. Talking to other humans that know about the wolves feels weird.

I miss Paul.
