The dinner was intentional, it wasn't spontaneous or for Lisa to get to know me again, it was to trap me. Lisa consistently looked at her phone throughout the meal, she smiled and quickly looked away, bringing her attention back to me, what was she doing? I was one hundred percent certain I was correct when she very hurriedly said that Janis asked us to all come down to the apartment, I decided to just accept my fate, I figure when I get to the apartment my bags will be packed and some social worker will be there to pick me up.
-Sals POV-
She hangs her head a little bit as we are walking, her usual cocky persona is lacking right now. I wonder what she thinks is happening right now, I think what Janis and Ray are planning is very sweet but I have no idea how they got it done so fast or how they got the money for it. I bought a few things, I wanted to make it special for her, I know that people can easily look at her and get a different idea.
We approach the door and Larry knocks.
"One minute" Janis yells from the other side. Lisa laughs and walks in, just barely cracking the door and quickly shutting it behind her. Ace hasn't said anything this whole time. Where were her jokes and sarcastic laughter?
"Okay come in" Ray chimes in and unlocks the door, Ace takes a step inside and immediately gets swooped into the arms of Janis
-Ace's POV-
"what is going on?" I say confused as Janis's hands cover my eyes and Ray's hand leads me forward. No one says anything, all I hear is little giggles coming from Sal and Larry, this feels like middle school oreo dating, pretending to like someone for points and then humiliating them at recess for more.
I hear a door open, and her hands quickly drop from my face. A room off to the side of the kitchen becomes part of my world, I've never noticed this room in the months I have lived here. I walk in
"We've been working on it for a while, We wanted you to have your own space," Janis says with Ray's arm draped around her shoulder.
-Sals POV-
As she steps into the room her mouth parts, and she immediately walks over to the queen-sized bed, she grabs the photo off the nightstand. Its a picture of all of us walking back into the apartment building with the supplies to make her room possible in our hands, we took her to the store that day but she refused to go in and fell asleep in the car, in the photo while everyone else had posters and decorations Ray had her in his arms, carrying her back to the apartment and I was fixing her hair. The room was perfect for her, the gray walls, the tapestries and fairy lights, the dark bedset, the soft blankets that were stacked off to the side, the beanbag chair in the corner, and all of the stuffed animals I bought her to keep her comfy in her new fortress.
She quickly turns around and runs into the arms of Janis and Ray. Their faces say it all, both of them smiling from ear to ear, they love her and she seems to love them too.
