Hive Knight x Male Reader - A Crush

Hive Knight POV:

I was wandering through the Hive with my best friend (Y/N). We were sitting on one of the platforms and watching the bees do their things. We were just chatting.

I don't know what's wrong with me today. Everything (Y/N) does makes me nervous. Just being around them makes my heart pound. What is wrong with me?? Is this normal? I need to ask mom once (Y/N) goes home.

"So do the bees stop when they get tired? Like a break?" (Y/N) asked me. I nodded to him.

"They take a break and then come back once they're rested." I explained. He smiled a bit.

"Good. Wouldn't go too well if they overworked themselves."

I felt my face heat up. He's not even from here and yet he cares so much.

"Oh! I have to go! I'll come back tomorrow!" (Y/N) said suddenly.

I watched as he hopped off the platform and waved to me before running off towards the exit. I waved back. My face still felt hot. 'God...am I dying?' I hopped down and made my way back to where my mother, who also happened to be the Queen of the Hive, Vespa.

"Hello Mother." I greeted as I entered.

"Hello little one. What have you come for?" She asked.

"Uhm...wellll...." I then went on to explain everything that had happened with me when (Y/N) was around today. I was totally fine now and before! I don't get it.

Once I had finished, the Queen startled me by laughing.

"Oh! My baby has his first crush!" She said happily.

My face flushed out of embarrassment from her tone.

"What?! What even is a crush?" I asked.

My mother calmed herself down and turned back to me.

"It's when one bug falls in love with another, but they aren't together yet. When one likes the other but the other doesn't yet know. You are starting to have a crush on (Y/N)." She explained. I blushed more at the thought.

"How do I make it go away?" I asked.

"You confess to him. If it goes well, you two can be in relationship. If it doesn't, you'll have to accept he doesn't love you back." That thought made me shudder. He may not like me. "But, I'll still be here either way. If you really want, you can tell him tomorrow." I nodded.

"I can do that! I can do anything!" I also desperately needed to get this out before it tears me apart.

"Yes you can, honey, now go plan out you confession." The Queen said.

'Honey? Really?' I thought. I paid it no mind though as I was leaving. How am I supposed to tell (Y/N) I like him? What if he doesn't like me?

~The Next Day~

(Y/N) POV:

I was making my way back to the Hive. Past all the weird spiky bugs and pits and acid pools-Why is it so dangerous here? I shrugged it off and continued on my way. I got the entrance and the rickety bridge over the writhing, spiky bugs below. I made it across and entered the Hive. Now where was the Hive Knight?(I'm just gonna call him the Knight for now). I walked in made my way up through the many rooms. I found the Knight waiting by the other entrance.

"Hello!" I called out to him. He turn and gave me a look.

"Why'd you take the long way?"

"I felt like it." He sighed.

"Anyway can we go over to the bench?"

"Why?"

"I just feel like it."

I smirked at his reiteration of your reply.

"Alright fine, Bee-man." He scoffed sarcastically as I said that.

We made our way to the bench talking and laughing.

Once we arrived, I sat on one end of the bench and invited my bee friend to sit on the other. He did and I noticed he seemed a bit...different. Something just seemed off about his manner.

"You good, Knight?" I asked.

"Huh-? Oh! Yeah."

I wasn't buying that.

"Something definitely off..." I sat up and moved a bit closer. "You sure okay?"

"I-...I need to tell you something." He looked quite nervous.

"You can tell me anything. We're best friends." He seemed a bit upset at that. Frankly, I wouldn't mind being more, but whatever happens is what happens.

"I recently figured out what a crush is." I stifled back a laugh after. How did he not know what a crush is? "And with that...I figured out I had one on you." He turned away a little, then back. "D-do you want to go on a date w-with me?"

I was shocked. Knight had a crush on...me?

"Yes." I replied quickly.

"Really?" I noticed a blush spread across his face. I nodded.

"Really. I did kinda want to be more than friends, but I didn't think you wanted to." I said with a nervous laugh.

I hugged the flustered Knight. He hugged back.

I don't think I've ever been happier.
