Hey Babes! This is a double update so make sure to go back and read 29 if you missed it! Here's an extra extra-long chapter to make up for the emotional damage haha.
Brenna's POV
"It wasn't an allergic reaction, it was a car accident, two-car head-on collision. Joesph Toliver was driving," Keller says and I stop in my tracks.
"A car accident?" I question as I finally find my voice.
"Yes ma'am, we'll explain everything at the hospital, I'm here to give you a police escort," Keller replies as the gravity of the situation hits me. Every mother dreads that phone call, the phone call saying her child was injured. But I got more than a phone call, I have a whole-ass police officer that found me at a bar I frequent. That has to mean something, that has to be worse than a simple phone call.
"Brenna, come on!" Kade yells as he is running toward his motorcycle.
"No, we'll take my car, it has Hazel's car seat in it," I reply as I change directions and run toward my car. No matter the cop on my doorstep, I have to believe she'll be okay. She's only four years old, nothing bad can happen so young, it just can't.
"Bren-" Brody begins but Kade stops him.
"Okay, let's go," Kade says as he begins running toward my car as well.
"Clove!" I yell as an idea pops into my head. "Can you ride with us? I want updates on the way to the hospital." In a flash, Clove runs as fast as her pregnant belly will allow and opens the back door to my car as she slides in.
"You good to drive, Crow?" Kade yells as he starts the car engine.
"I'm riding!" Brody calls as he and the rest of the club mounts their bikes.
"Okay, I'm leading, you guys flank. Stay safe but keep up!" Keller yells as he starts his police car, turns his lights and sirens on, and peels out of the parking lot.
Kade has no issue keeping up with him as we start flying down the small side street. Even though the world around me is operating at a fast pace, I feel like I'm stuck in slow motion. I feel like I'm stuck in a nightmare I just want to wake up from. I can hear Clove behind me as she taps on her phone and tries to call someone but they don't pick up.
"Kade, give me your phone," I demand as I get an idea. Without hesitating, he gives me his phone as I open the police scanner app. Since his club is sometimes involved in activities that aren't really legal, all of the members have a police scanner app that will tip them off to any calls or reports, but it is also the same line for the fire department.
I click the app as static flows through the car and Kade shoots me a questioning glance as he realizes what I am doing. "This is STAT 130 at the medevac site, what's the ETA on the helicopter?"
"Helicopter? Is that for Hazel?" I whisper as tears finally well up in my eyes. How bad is she? I bet she is so scared right now. She is all alone.
"Control to STAT 130, the copter is 3 minutes out with a clear path to Franklin General. The pediatric trauma team has been notified."
"Oh God," Kade mutters as his grip tightens on the steering wheel so much that his knuckles turn white.
"Control this is Unit 20, Keller, I'm en route with the parents of the tender-age victim. We are northbound on Route 2. I have the parents behind me in a small silver sedan and the MC behind them. I need all available units for roadblocks between Route 2, East 100 Street, and North Bergan. We need to get them there ASAP."
"This is Unit 33, responding to the request for roadblocks."
"This is Unit 42, I'm en route to the Bergan intersection."
