Driver's POV

"I'm telling you she might," Clove whispers as she avoids eye contact. I don't want to believe the words that just came out of her mouth. I want to shake her and yell at her for lying to us. I want to go back in time and put a bullet in Joey's head while I had the chance. There are so many things I want to do, but I can't do any of them. I can barely even breathe as my hands go to my hair and I anxiously shift my feet.

"Catch her, Driver," Clove yells which pulls me out of the selfish trance I slipped into, but I'm still confused.

"What?" I ask as I realize all of the color left Brenna's face and she is as stiff as a board.

"Catch her!" Clove yells again just as Brenna's knees buckle under her. I am quick to get to her, but I'm not strong enough to hold her up, so we both just sink to the floor. I have no idea how long we sit on the floor as she sobs. The sounds that come out of her cause me pain, physical pain because I can't do anything to fix it. My little girl is in the fight of her life and I can just sit by and watch. The love of my life is grieving a child that is still here, and once again, I can't do a goddamn thing.

Finally, Brenna stops sobbing as her eyes scan the room, but I can't figure out what she is looking for. Panic seems to register on her face as she stands from the floor, turns around in a circle, and then pales even more.

"Where's Brody?" Brenna asks as her eyes desperately scan the room.

Probably the same place I want to be.

"Did anybody see him leave?" Brenna asks as fresh tears fall down her face again.

"I didn't," Grace replies as realization dawns on everyone in that room. Joey is a suspect in a DUI resulting in death, cops are sure to be swarming around his room, and I know Crow doesn't give two shits. Crow reminds me a lot of myself in my younger days, he is impulsive and loyal to a fault, which makes him a damn good biker. But, no one ever accused him of being smart.

"Where's Brody?" Brenna whispers again as her eyes still scan the room, waiting for him to magically appear.

"The better question is where's Joey? That'll tell you where Crow is," Skillet murmurs.

"No," Brenna gasps as Skillet confirms what she already knew to be true.

"Where's Joey's room?" Wolf asks Clove.

"In the ICU, I don't know the room number but I'll find out," Clove says as she runs out of the room.

"I can't lose them both," Brenna mutters through tears as her once pale face is now fire engine red.

"Brenna, I will go handle it, I promise you we will protect him," Blade says as he looks to Grease and Wolf. They are the most connected people in the club and know members of almost every public office in Georgia, if anyone can get us out of this mess, it's them.

"He won't listen to you," Brenna argues as her eyes find mine. "He won't listen to them, but he'll listen to you."

"Bren-" I start but she interrupts me.

"You are her Daddy. You are the only other person who understands a fraction of what he is feeling. You have to go stop him!" She yells as Clove returns with a small nod to Blade indicating she has a room number.

"Okay," I mutter. The last thing I want to do is go and save the life of that piece of shit, but I'm not doing it for him, I'm doing it for her.

She can't lose them both.

If I have any say in it, she won't lose either of them.

"Okay, let's go," I demand as Blade, Grease, Wolf, and Clove follow me out of the room.
