A couple of months had gone by in Stars Hollow. Events had been and gone and Devyn and Jess had grown closer.

Devyn was flopped down on the sofa in the Gilmore house with the tv on. Rory came into the room with a look on her face.

'Dev.'

'Yes.' Devyn replied, turning to look at Rory, 'You good?'

'I know you were going to go out this evening, but mom is not going to be in and I want someone to help do my laundry.' Rory said, 'You can do yours to.'

Devyn sighed, turning the tv off, 'It's a good thing that me going out wasn't essential.'

Rory grinned. 'Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.' She gave Devyn a quick hug before walking away to their room.

Devyn laughed before going over to the phone and calling Luke's.

'Hello?'

'Hey is Jess in?'

'Yes. I thought you were going out with him later.'

'Yeah I was but Rory wants me to help with her laundry. Can you give him a message?'

'I guess so.'

'Okay. Thank you Luke.'

'Yeah, yeah.'

He hung up.

Devyn rolled her eyes. She felt bad about having to cut her plans to meet up with Jess but desperate times called for desperate measures.

✧ ✧ ✧

'Ok so you sort out thi-' Rory got cut of.

The was frantic knocking from the front door. Rory got up with Devyn following after.

A girl Devyn didn't recognise stood at the door.

'Oh, Paris. What are you doing here?'

So this is Paris. Devyn thought. She smiled at the blonde saying a quick hey.

'Are you Devyn? Rory's sister?' Paris asked walking inside, hands filled with books.

Devyn nodded, 'Yes. It's nice to meet you.'

'Yeah, you too.'

Paris then started talking to Rory about why she was here and Devyn had sat down on the sofa, sorting out the laundry.

'Ok. Dev, we're going to have to do the laundry later, that alright?' Rory asked Devyn.

'Oh, yes perfectly fine.' You're saying I could have gone out this entire time??

Rory and Paris started doing their own thing in the kitchen and Devyn went into her and Rory's room to grab herself a book. As she came out she heard another knock on the door. 'I'll get it.'

Devyn walked over and turned the handle to open the door.

'Oh, Jess?'

Jess was leaning on the side of the door that hadn't been opened. He was holding a bag in his hand.

'Hey, Luke told me to give this to you and Rory as you were here on your own.' He said, walking into the house.

'Oh yeah, you can definitely come in.' Devyn mumbled, shutting the door and turning around to face Jess.

'What was that?'

'Nothing.' Devyn said, 'Rory and Paris are in the kitchen. Follow me I guess.'

Jess and Devyn both walked into the kitchen as Rory and Paris looked up.

'Jess?' Rory questioned.

'He brought food.' Devyn explained.

Rory nodded, 'Well he can stay if he wants.'

Jess ended up choosing to stay, much to Devyns delight.

'You brought food for like twelve people.'

'Well with the rate you and Rory eat, i'm sure it will be gone soon.' Jess said. Devyn rolled her eyes.

After a while of the four talking and eating, the phone rang.

'I'll get it.' Rory said, standing up to go answer it.

A couple of minutes later, Rory came into the room again, a scared look on her face.

'Jess. You got to go.'

'Why.'

'Dean's coming.'

Devyn looked at her sister, a look on her face. She turned to Jess, 'Yeah. I think it's best you leave.'

'But i'm eating.'

'Jess.'

'Fine.'

He stood up and then fake tripped, 'Ow.' He turned his head to Devyn, a fake look of hurt on his face, 'I think I just twisted my ankle.'

'Jess. Stop it.'

'Fine, fine. I'm going.'

He walked over to the door, reaching out for the handle.

'Well tell Dean I said hey.' Jess opened the door, 'Or maybe I could tell him myself.'

Rory pushed Jess aside. 'Dean. Hi. Jess was just dropping of some food for us.'

Dean pushed past Rory, ignoring the look on her face.

Devyn mentally hit her face, following Rory, who rushed in after Dean.

'Just dropping over food?' Dean asked. 'I know you eat quick, but not that quickly.'

'Uh well-'

'It was my fault.' Paris started, everyone turned to her, 'I saw Jess last time I came here and I knew that Rory amd Devyn were friends with him. I don't know, I guess if we got closer maybe something could of happened. It was stupid.'

Rory gave Paris a look, silently thanking her.

Devyn pushed Jess back out to the front door. 'Ok now you have to go.'

'Ok, ok, calm down. I'm going.' Jess said, laughing quietly.

'This is no laughing matter, Jess.' Devyn said smacking Jess' arm. Before pulling him out the house.

They both looked at eachother before Devyn spoke up again.

'Sorry about not meeting up earlier.' Maybe we can tomorrow.'

'Yeah. I guess. I've got nothing else to do in this stupid town.' Devyn sighed. Frowning at his last words.

'It's not stupid.'

'To you it's not. To me it is.'

'Ok whatever.' Devyn said, 'Now go i'll see you at Luke's.'

Jess nodded before walking away.

What an evening.
