14: Meet my boyfriend

It was a Friday night. You know what that means. Dinner at Emily and Richards.

Jack had been invited. Emily and Richard insisted that he meets them.

The four where outside of the house now. Lorelai leaned over and pressed the door bell. She turned to Jack, 'Good luck, my friend. You will need it.' j

Jack gave her a funny look. He put his arm around Devyns shoulder missing the slight freeze she did.

A maid opened the door, gesturing for them to come in. She shut the door behind them and took their coats. 'Mr and Mrs Gilmore are in the living room.'

Lorelai, Devyn, Rory and Jack all walked in. Emily and Richard stood up at the sight of them.

'Lorelai, Devyn, Rory. Hello.' Emily said. She turned to Jack, 'And your Jake?'

'Jack, ma'am.'

'Oh please call me Emily. It is very lovely to meet you.'

'And you.'

'Hello Jack. It is a pleasure to meet you.' Richard said, holding out his hand for Jack to shake.

'It's a pleasure to meet you too.'

'Come on. Sit down, sit down.' Emily said. 'Would you like any drinks? I suppose you want your usual Lorelai.'

'Yes mom.'

'Me, Dev and Jack will have a soda.' Rory said. Jack and Devyn nodding in agree.

Jack slyly put his hand on top of Devyns that was resting next to her thigh. She didn't know how to react but she kept it cool, not wanting to start a fight.

'So, Jack,' Richard started, 'Where do you go for school?'

'Dad.' Lorelai warned.

'What? I'm just curious.'

'Uh well I'm not at the moment as I just moved into stars hollow but I plan on going to stars hollow high sooner or later.' Jack explained.

'I see.'

A maid came in at that moment. 'Dinner is ready.'

The six got up and walked into the dinning room.

'Bye mom. Bye dad.' Lorelai said, before shutting the front door behind her. She then turned to Jack. 'You've got in my parents good books. Please. Spill your secrets.'

The children laughed.

They all got into Lorelai's jeep and began their journey back home.

Jack had been dropped to his house and Lorelai had just pulled up to the Gilmore's House.

Devyn was very quiet which was unlike her. She subconsciously twirled her hair, zoning out.

Rory noticed her sisters mood and decided to ask if she was ok. 'Dev. You alright?'

'Huh.' Devyn was shook out her thoughts. 'Oh yeah i'm alright.'

The car had stopped and the trio got out. Devyn quickly rushed into the house and into her and Rory's shared room.

After she got changed, Rory and Lorelai opened the door.

'Devyn. Your not ok.' Lorelai said, going over to give her youngest child a hug. 'What's up?'

Devyn broke down. She grabbed onto Lorelai, tears cascading down her cheeks. Rory quickly rushed over to join in the hug, wanting to comfort her sister.

'What's the matter Devyn?'

'He- he cheated o-on me.' Devyn cried. Lorelai and Rory looked at eachother. They were not expecting that. 'I saw him w-with Shane. That ugly, gross blonde girl J-jess is going out with. T-they where both making o-out in an alleyway.' Devyn pulled back, wiping her eyes. 'I didn't want to say anything because o-of the dinner. But I hate it. My first boyfriend, first kiss. He cheated on me.'

Rory and Lorelai glanced at eachother again.

Lorelai spoke up again. 'Does Jess know?'

Rory answered before Devyn could, 'No I saw them making out today.' She glanced at Devyn, 'Gross.'

Devyn sighed. She hated it. Everything.

'Maybe you should tell Jess tomorrow.' Lorelai suggested to Devyn.

Devyn thought for a moment. She got up and walked out of the room.

'Uh, hun, where you going?' Lorelai yelled.

'Out.' Devyn yelled back. She grabbed her coat and walked out the front door.

She walked all the way to Luke's. Feeling for the spare key on the top of the door. She unlocked it and walked in. Quietly, she walked up the stairs and got to the apartment door.

Devyn banged on it, now not caring how loud she was being. She heard voices before the door infront of her opened.

Luke stood there with a baseball bat in his hand.

'What do- oh.'

'Who is it?'

'Me. Now move Luke.' Devyn said, pushing past Luke and into his apartment. She looked over to where Jess was.

'Devyn.' Luke said.

She waved a hand at him but still looked at Jess.

'Hey Angel.' Jess said. He gestured for her to walk over to him.

Devyn sat down next to him, not saying anything.

'Devyn.' Luke said again.

'What?' Devyn turned to look at Luke.

'What the hell do you think your doing here? It's like 11:30 and night. Some people like to sleep you know.' Devyn ignored him and turned back to Jess.

'I need to talk to you.'

'Couldn't it wait till the morning.' Luke sighed.

'No.' Devyn said, 'Now Luke, as much as I love you, could you leave for a minute.'

Luke grumbled something before walking out the door, shutting it behind him.

'So.'

'So.'

'You know my boyfriend.' Devyns eyes flashed with anger as she said the word boyfriend, 'and you know your, um, girlfriend, make out buddy, whatever you too are.'

'Yes I do happen to know them, why?' Jess asked, skeptically.

'Well um.' Devyn voice started to shake. Jess noticed this and grabbed Devyns hand. 'They where uh-'

'They where what?' Jess asked calmly.

'Uh. Making out.' Devyn said, quietly.

Jess stared at her. She was about to ask if he was ok but he stood up amd headed towards the door.

'Woah. Wait.' Devyn said, standing up. 'Where you going?'

'No where.'

'Jess.' Devyn said. Jess looked at her. 'Please don't. Not now anyway.'

Jess paused for a second before nodding reluctantly. 'Ok.' He walked over to her. He hesitantly wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close to him.

Devyn pushed her face into his chest, her hands gripping onto his shirt. She started to cry again.

Jess lead the both of them over to his bed and pulled her down to lie with him. After a minute or two he heard her breathing even out and knew that she had fell asleep.

Luke walked in at that moment. He gave Jess a look as if to ask if Devyn was ok. Jess nodded and whispered, 'Call Lorelai to tell her that she is here.' Luke nodded and went to the phone.

Soon enough Jess had feel asleep, Devyn still in his arms.

Sort of cute ending.
It would be cute in different circumstances.
Anyways next chapter is where Jack
goes bye bye.
