A FRUSTRATED HUFF FELL from Stelsa as she gripped the book in her tiny hands — far more distracted by it than Jace that had slipped into the library. He had been searching for her since he finished his training early for the day. While Jace wasn't thrilled about celebrating Aegon's nameday, he was glad to get out of training sooner. Jace observed Stelsa for a moment, watching as she huffed and pouted, "You don't know how to read?" Jace mused, grinning ear to ear as he walked towards his friend. She never took her stormy eyes off the book, flipping the page as though she had read the last one.

"It's not that I don't know how-" Stelsa lowered the book for a moment, glaring towards Jace who was highly amused by this information, "I cannot."

"So, you don't know how." Jace balanced himself back and forth between the balls of his feet as he said this.

Stelsa's ears began to burn at the teasing, "I cannot." She emphasized once more before burying her face back into the book, hiding herself from her counterpart, "I mix up the letters no matter how many times father corrects me." She explains in a quiet voice, trying her best to read the sentences. Stelsa was so distracted by this that she didn't know Jace had moved closer until his hand was pushing the book down again.

His dark brown eyes had softened from a mischievous one to a kinder gaze, "Why don't you stop for a bit then?" Jace asked, his mischievous antics forgotten about now as he watched his close friend grow increasingly more frustrated by the second. He takes the book from her hands and places it on the table.

"But-" Stelsa began, trying to find an excuse.

"You're not going to learn under pressure," Jace quickly retorts, and in return his best friend flops back in her seat.

"I only know pressure, Jace!" Stelsa threw her arms in the air, swinging them around, "Look how good I'm getting with my sword!" Stelsa exclaimed, making Jace laugh.

"That's debatable." Jace retorted, grinning from ear to ear once again. His dark eyes bright with mischief once more as he watches Stelsa glare her stormy ones at him.

"I'm better than you." Stelsa quips, smirking as his grin falters and his cheeks redden ever so slightly.

"Yeah? Well, at least I can read." Jace jabs his thumb towards the book on the table, scowling at Stelsa making her scowl back at him.

The two stare each other down for a moment before Jace breaks into a grin. Stelsa narrows her eyes and leaps forward in an attempt to tackle him, but Jace is quick to turn and take off running and laughing. Servants watched as the prince raced past them, laughing and howling. They couldn't help but giggle to themselves as Stelsa was only a few paces behind him. Neither child paid much mind to them, both far too preoccupied with the other.
