Hayley moved back in with Sam. She was staying in one of the guestrooms. Sam was on the road. Hayley was looking for a knife to cut her food. She opened a drawer and saw the ring Sam gave her. She liked it. She didn't understand why but she felt a connection to it.
Later that day she was in the backyard by Sam's halfpipe. A memory came to her suddenly.
Flashback
Hayley and Sam were standing in the backyard. His eyes were closed. She was about to surprise with the halfpipe.
"Ok, open." She said excitedly. He did. "Happy birthday Sam."
He hugged her. "I know these cost a lot of money." "Thank you so much." "I love you."
"I love you too."
"Come on."
"Where are we going?"
"Upstairs."
End Of Flashback
Sitting against the halfpipe was one of Sam's skateboards. The one that caused their first kiss. Once again Hayley didn't know why but she felt a connection to it.
Hayley spent the rest of the day out baby shopping. When she got home she made dinner.
Later that night Hayley was watching Dynamite. Priscilla was wrestling. Hayley didn't understand why whenever she saw Priscilla, a feeling of unease would come over her. As far as she knew they'd never met.
A little while later Sam came out for his match. She rubbed her stomach with both hands.
"Look, there's daddy." She said. "It still feels so weird saying that." "I feel bad because sometimes I think I hurt his feelings." "I don't want to hurt him." "He wants so desperately for me to feel things I just don't anymore." "I do care about your daddy but not in the way that he wants." "One thing that makes me happy though, is even though I don't remember it, I know you were created from two people who loved each other." "I know your daddy loves me and even though it seems so farfetched to me now, I know at some point I had to have loved him." "I'd never make love to anyone I wasn't in love with." "Even though we may never get back to where we were, please never doubt that we both love you very much."
About an hour later she and Sam had just started a video call.
"You did great tonight." Hayley said.
"Thanks." Sam said. "How are you two?"
"We're fine." "I remembered something today."
"That's great." "What?"
"When I surprised you with the halfpipe in the backyard." "I found a ring today." "I think you told me about it." "It felt like I wanted to remember something but I couldn't, same thing with your skateboard."
"It sounds like they're trying to come through."
"Yeah." "Sam, do I not like Priscilla?"
"No you don't." "Why?"
"Every time I see her I get an uneasy feeling."
"Well, she's why you left me."
"Did you have an affair with her?"
"No." He explained the story.
"If we were broken up when you slept with her, why'd I get so upset?"
"You still loved me and it hurt you."
"I still don't think I had the right to be upset." "It sounds stupid of me."
"You had every right." "I made it worse." "I'm an asshole."
"I'm going to bed."
"I'll see you tomorrow."
"Ok." "Bye."
"Bye." They disconnected. "Yes she's starting to remember." Sam thought happily. "I know we can get back to where we were." "It'll just take time." "She'll come back to me." "Although I'm hoping she doesn't remember everything with Priscilla." "She doesn't care now because she doesn't remember." "I don't want her to be hurt all over again." "Especially with the baby coming."
