Tommy
- self harm
- bullying
(Taken from a book I'll never finish lol)
The lunch bell rang, signifying the beginning of third period, Chemistry. Tommy sulked his way to class and took a seat in the far back. His teacher droned on and on about atomic naming rules and a bunch of other boring stuff that Tommy couldn't bring himself to care about. In fact, he could think of something far more interesting to do... He grabbed a set of paperclips from a nearby lab station and started stringing them together in a long chain and configured them into random shapes.
"Tommy! Since you're paying so much attention, I'm sure you could tell me what Bi²(Cr²0⁷)³ would be in the classical system?" The teacher asked.
"Uhhh... salt?"
The class snickered.
"There's not even any sodium in that equation, genius!" A student shouted.
"Alright, that's enough! It would be bismuthous dichromate. Remember, class, this will be on the midterm, so pay attention if you plan on passing!"
Tommy blinked away tears in his eyes. He really did want to pay attention, but it was just so hard! He didn't know how everyone else did it. Chemistry never made much sense to him. No subject did. Was he just stupid? Was he broken? All these questions swirled around Tommy's head for the rest of the period. He had never been more grateful to hear the bell in his life. As soon as it rang, he ran out and went into the nearest bathroom, locking the door and siting on the floor. One hand was clamped over his mouth and the other was scratching at his exposed ankle. He heard the bell sound again, but couldn't bring himself to stand up. The only thing that brought him out of the trance was his phone's pinging.

Mom
Is everything okay?
You were marked absent in Algebra.
Can you come pick me up?
Of course, honey. What happened?
I don't wanna talk about it. Can you just get me?
Yes, I'm on my way now.
°°°
Tommy took a shaky breath and wiped his tears, bracing himself to stand. He took a look in the mirror and realized that there was no hiding that he'd been crying. His red eyes appeared glazed over and puffed up. There were a few tear tracks still visible on his cheeks. He decided to just keep his head down on his way out, and headed for the main office, where his mother should be ready to pick him up. He opened the door and averted her gaze.
"Alright, Tommy. Let's get home now." Tommy's mom said sweetly.
Tommy nodded and followed her out to the car and sat in the passenger seat.
"So what happened?"
"I... just school stuff. I'm just stressed."
"Are you sure? That's all it was?"
"Yeah..."
Tommy felt tears well up again. His mother pulled him into a hug.
"I love you, baby. I'm so sorry you're feeling this way."
At that, Tommy's tears turned into sobs as he took comfort in his mother's gentle rocking. She kept rocking him until his sobs died down into quiet hiccups and he pulled away.
"How about we go home and watch a movie?"
Tommy just nodded. His mother started the car and drove off. Tommy was surprised to hear his phone going off again. Tubbo? Why was Tubbo texting him? Was school already over? No way he'd cried that long... But sure enough, it was 3:20. He opened the messages.
Tubbo
Where are you? Did you get detention?
No, I went home early.
Are you okay?
Yeah I'm fine, it was just those stupid seniors again.
Oh, I'm sorry :(
Can I come over?
Yeah my mom and I are just gonna watch a movie.
Cool, don't start without me!!
°°°
Tommy smiled. "It's okay if Tubbo comes over, right?"
"Of course, honey. You go pick a movie, I'll be right there."
Tommy sat on the couch and browsed Netflix. He was just having a hard time making a choice when Tubbo burst into the room.
"I'm home!!"
"I see that." Tommy rolled his eyes and laughed.
"Gimme that!"
"Hey, I was gonna pick!"
"Too bad, so sad."
Tommy pouted while Tubbo made a selection. Before starting the movie, though, he turned to Tommy with a serious face.
"Are you're okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"You look upset."
"I'm fine, Tubbo."
"But-"
"God, Tubbo, I said I'm fine! Just leave me alone!"
"Tommy, I -"
Tommy ignored him and got up, running to his room. Thoughts still flooded his mind. He wanted them to go away. Needed them to go away. How could he possibly get rid of them?
Do it.
What?
You know you want to.
No, that's not true!
Oh, but it is!
Tommy somehow found himself dismantling his pencil sharpener. Is this what he really wanted? Would this make things better? Well, it was worth a shot...
Tommy gripped the blade tightly. His hand was sweating and shaking so badly that he had to take a few deep breaths to calm down. He slowly put the blade onto his skin. The coolness of the metal shocked him. He pressed down hard, then dragged the blade through his skin. It ignited in pain and sent sparks of adrenaline flying through his body. He felt so alive. He picked up the blade again and made another cut below the first. Blood slowly dripped from the cuts and threatened to fall to the floor. Shit, he needed to clean this up.
Tommy grabbed a few tissues and started soaking up the blood. Thankfully there wasn't much because he didn't go very deep. The cuts stung from the pressure. That was so stupid. How was he going to cover this up? How long would it take to heal? How could he do such a thing? He felt crazy, but he did notice that the thoughts had calmed down...
Maybe it wasn't that bad after all?
