~Charlie~

"My shadow's the only one that walks beside me.

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating.

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me.

'Till then I walk alone."

I yawn and open my eyes and look over and see that Jeff's is still driving as the radio blares Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Green Day. I smile and look over at Jeff again, who clearly hasn't noticed that I'm awake. "Jeff?" I ask, trying to see if he realizes that I'm awake. Not getting an answer, I sigh and turn the music up more, making him come out of his driving daze. "What? What's going on? Oh you're awake now." he says, looking over at me before looking back at the road. "How much longer?" I ask, while yawning again. "About twenty-five minutes." is all he says.

I nod my head and decide to use Jeff as a pillow. I life up the console that's between us and take my seat belt off and lay my head down in his lap. I feel him tense before looking down at me then back up at the road. "You're comfy." is all I say, rolling over a bit so my face is buried into his stomach. "Well, that's good to know. Now, just relax. Sleep longer if you'd like. I'll wake you when we get there." I just nod my head before falling back asleep, but this time, on a nice warm comfortable lap.

~Jeff~

I was so caught up in thinking earlier that I didn't notice that Charlie had woken up and tried talking to me. Now that she's laying in my lap, I have to be careful. I can't move as much otherwise something I don't want may happen. When I come to a stop light, I look down at her and check on her. I notice that half of her face is in my sweater and the other half is barely revealed beneath her hair. I let a real small smile come out beneath my permanent one, before taking my thumb and grazing her cheek.

I look up and notice that the light is green again, so, I continue on. 'I can't let myself be distracted by this girl. This is business. She is my prey. Not Jane's. I will do everything in my power to make sure that Charlie stay's alive; so I can kill her.' I think to myself. After the twenty-five minute drive, I make it to the last place I thought I'd ever have to go back to. "I'm home." it slipped from my tongue faster than what I could stop. "Damn Jeff." I groan. I look back down at Charlie and smile.

"We're safe for now. Until Jane realizes that we've left town. She'll come track us down. Than, we'll be on the run." I whisper in her ear, carefully picking her up, hearing a groan of disapproval. "We're here Charlie. It's time to get up." I say, a little louder, walking over to the door. I turn the handle and the door opens with a loud creak. 'No one has been here in a while. Not even I have' I think to myself.

I walk over to the living room, remembering this house like the back of my hand. I see the sofa and the the layers of dust that cover it. I internally groan and pat the sofa a few times sending dust all over the room. I grab a pillow and lay it down on the couch before putting Charlie down.

I start to walk around the house, trailing my fingers across the walls, walking into the kitchen at first. I look through the fridge and cabinets just to make sure the food is all good to eat. "Yep. All edible." I state aloud, walking over to the sink and turning it on. I smile when I see the water run out. "Water works." I go over to the light switch and flick the switch up, allowing the blinding light to turn on. "Electricity is on too. Perfect." I whisper, heading back into the living room and seeing Charlie has gotten up. "Shit." I whisper, heading upstairs, thinking she may be up there.

I open the first door I come across. I take a deep breath before grabbing the handle and turning it. 'My old room.' is the first thought that comes across my mind. I see the door that leads to the bathroom where I burned off my eyelids and created the smile. I look around a little and see some of the clothes I pulled out of my closet all of those years ago before that brat's party. I feel a pang in my head. I groan and grab on to it with both of my hands. "Jeff? Are you okay?"

A flashback of my mother coming to check on me that night my sanity slipped runs through my mind. I growl and look at her. "You sound just like her." I hiss, before walking over to the bed and falling on it, gripping my head.

"Jeff, what's wrong..." Charlie trails off as she looks around the room. I look over at the top of the dresser and see pictures of Liu and I, back when I looked normal. "Jeff... is this you and your brother?" she whispers, picking up a picture that was on the dresser. The picture was of Liu and I at the beach, Liu was shirtless in his swimming trunks, and I was shy and didn't want to take my shirt off. I growl at the picture.

"Will you tell me the story behind it?" Charlie whispers looking over at me. "My family and I went to the beach that day. Liu; my brother, decided to take his shirt off and make me get in the picture with him. I told him no one hundred times at least, but he insisted. So, I took the picture with him. My father was holding the camera at the time. My... mother... tried to make me take my shirt off as well, but at the time, I was shy and didn't want to." is all I say, not going into real detail. That's when she says something that catches me off guard.

"Well, back then, I think you were very attractive. You are now too." she says, smiling. I shit you not, my mouth dropped.

"What?" she asks giggling. "You just called me attractive. That is weird." is all I say, pointing an accusing finger at her. "What! Do you want me to say you look like a potato?" she asks, offended that she thinks I don't like the compliment. I starts chuckling. "No. Thanks for that compliment Charlie." I say smiling at her. She smiles and flops on the bed, sending dust all over the place. I start coughing as the dust flies. "Oops." is all she says looking over at me with a not so innocent look. Before I could say anything, I see the partially cracked bathroom door intrigues her. I bite my lip, not wanting her to go in there and see all of the bloodstains. "What's in there?" she asks. "I'd prefer if you didn't go in there." is all I say, watching as she gets up and walks over. She slowly pushes the door open and gasps. I can feel the grip on the knife that I'm carrying tighten. I watch as she walks in. 'Don't follow her.' I think to myself. "Fuck." I mumble, following her anyways. I make it to the bathroom with her. Blood staining the inside, outside, and sides of the sink. Plus the floor.

"Jeff. Is this where you..." she asks quietly, walking over to the sink running her finger across the smooth, dusty surface. Right over the bloodstains. I look into the mirror, and like a train, all of the flashback of my past in this bathroom hit me. I growl quietly, gripping my head again. I feel Charlie walk over to me, getting my knife out of my hand, and putting it in my sweater pocket after looking at it. "Lets tackle one room at a time together shall we?" she offers, while leading me back to the bedroom. She lays me down, and I pull her with me, not bothering with the fact that it's only the afternoon. "Lets go to sleep." she whispers, me giving her a hum in agreement.
