"Hey Katara what happened last night with that yelling?" Suki asked as she was sitting in the living room unpacking while Katara was in the one bathroom they would all share also unpacking.
"Um three people 'round our age, a brother and a sister and another girl, the brother was drunk I guess," Katara almost forgot about the interaction. It didn't feel real for how ridiculous it was.
"Oh thank god it's not old people as neighbors," Toph was sitting on the couch to keep company.
"Should I go check on them? I wanna make sure we don't get off the wrong foot with neighbors already," Katara walked out to them now over thinking.
"Katara babe, leave it alone," Suki told her not looking up.
"I don't want a bad first impression, it's people across the hall, we're going to run into them," Katara played with the ends of her hair anxiously.
"If the guy was that drunk then he probably has a hangover," Toph pointed out.
"I'm just trying to be nice," she huffed.
"Fine go say hi since you already met them," Suki waved her off and Katara was surprised.
"Okay," she went to the door and left.
"You know how mother henny she gets? They're going to hate her if he's really hung over," Toph was just as surprised.
"Wait she left?" Suki realized her mistake.
-
Katara knocked on the door and waited with her hands behind her back.
A minute went by and she knocked again louder.
"What?" Someone finally answered the door. It was the brother swinging the door open.
He was taller, but he wore baggy clothes, his tee shirt and sweats covered his shape but he had a full sleeve of tattoos on his left arm mixed with either snakes or dragons as well as other sorts of flowers or flames or symbols, as if it told a story. Part of it crawled up the side of his neck as well.
But nothing could prepare her for the scar that covered half of his face, his left eye scarred so bad it almost looked blinded, she could see it ended right over his cheek bone but his black hair covered the top of the scar and his forehead. It looked angry and painful yet it seemed old from many years go.
He looked extremely hung over and annoyed. The scar made him seem more grouchy and angry.
"H-Hi, we met last night," Katara sucked in a breath trying to not get nervous.
"Did I give you my address at the bar?" He narrowed his golden eyes at her.
"What? N-no," she was intimidated by his bluntness.
"Thank god," he nodded relieved.
"I'm Katara, I'm your new neighbor, I helped your sister get you inside," she explained as he rested against the door frame.
"Oh, okay?" He didn't remember.
"I thought I'd come make sure your all okay, and properly introduce myself," she kept talking as he didn't looked to focus on what she was saying.
"It's all fine, just to much to drink," Zuko said calmly.
"The other people that live here are gone so it's just me, I'll let them know you stopped by," he closed the door in her face and Kataras jaw dropped.
"Hey You don't need to be rude, I was trying to be nice!" She shot at the door annoyed now.
He opened the door. Still annoyed.
"Have a good day, is that better?" Zuko scoffed.
"Much, You have a good day too," Katara scrunched her nose at him and he frowned.
Closing the door on her again.
"Dickhead," Katara huffed.
"I can still hear you,"
Katara covered her mouth and ran back to her apartment quickly before she made another comment.
"I shouldn't stayed inside," she looked at the other girls.
"You nagged?" Toph asked.
"I did," Katara nodded embarrassed.
"Was he hungover?" Suki asked.
She nodded.
"Told you," Toph nodded proudly.
"Good going, now we probably going to have grouchy neighbors," she teased as Katara covered her face.
"It's not that serious, I'm sure you just caught him on a bad day Tara," Suki looked at her reassuringly.
"Maybe we could try saying something to the girls instead, is one his girlfriend?" She offered and Katara shrugged.
"I couldn't tell what was with that other girl, she was nice though," Katara explained sitting on the couch with her knees to her chest.
"Just be nice if you see him again," Suki sighed a little.
"I am nice!" Katara shot back.
"Super nice," Toph snorted.
"Am I not nice?" She asked offended.
"You get mothery sometimes, and kind of a know it all, up tight, ect ect," Toph lolled her head side to side.
"I am not! He's just a jerk!" Katara defended. Neither of her roommates commented but the silence was loud.
There was a knock at the door.
"It's only day two, what is going on?" Katara whined as she got the door seeing neither of the other girls wanted to get up.
She opened the door again but this time saw that other girl, Ty Lee, and the sister standing at her own door waiting and looking annoyed.
"Hi?" Katara smiled awkwardly.
"Hi, Zuko told us you stopped by, we just wanted to return the favor and thank you for your help last night, sorry also," Ty Lee smiled sweetly. Azula rolled her eyes.
"Hurry up I wanna eat," Azula stood in her door across the hallway.
"And also wanted to apologize for Zuko as well, and azulas, attitude in general, last night and for the future," she mumbled smirking. Azula scoffed.
"Don't worry about it, apparently I tend to get nosy, but thank you for stopping by," Katara shrugged a little trying to lighten the air. Azula didn't lighten up anyways.
"Let's go, I'm hungry," Azula looked at the other girl.
"Go inside I'm being neighborly!" Ty Lee hissed back finally.
"Fine but it's not my fault if Zuko eats your portion," Azula waved her off.
"Wait no I'm hungry too," ty Lee whined.
"Well anyways welcome to the building, I'm glad there's more people our age, bye!" Ty Lee waved back at Katara and ran inside her apartment as Azula held it open for her.
"Nice seeing you," Katara waved at her as well.
"Just don't make to much noise," Azula said and closed the door.
"Maybe it's a family trait of being rude," Katara scoffed closing her own door. Two rude siblings and super kind roommate, what a trio.
