The next day y/n woke up slightly later than usual, no one had bothered to wake her up this time and it confused her a little.

Probably mother left me sleep more after yesterday events

She thought as she removed the fur blanket over her.

Y/n was about to grab her bag and head outside when she noticed Naru's bow and hatchet were missing, and her harvest bag left cluttered on the floor.

Oh no

It's the first and only thing y/n thought before running off in the usual direction for the harvest.

She knew perfectly well what Nora was trying to do, and even though she had full faith in her, she didn't want to leave her alone in the forest with whatever was killing and taking the heads off the animals.
The pain her sister was experiencing was understandable but she cloundt leave her do this.

Without wasting time, she entered the forest without even giving an account of the people of the tribe who, bewildered, watched the girl disappear in the mist of the forest.

Though she wasn't a hunter, everyone in the tribe had a basic understanding of the tracks, and that's exactly what y/n started looking for.

Little broken sticks, signs on the trees, broken leaves, footprints evrything was important in that moment.

Not long after y/n came to a stream, trying to catch her breath from running non stop trought the forest, she didnt think her stamina was that high honestly, as her breath condensed in the air due to the cold air of the morning her eyes scanned the area.

'Please please give me a sign that you've been here...' thought the girl looking for possible footprints in the mud, anything that would give away the passing of Naru.

But inside y/n again ,that uneasy feeling arose as she tried to ignore it, telling her she was getting herself into something dangerous, something she cloudnt run from, but it wasn't the time to get scared, now she had to find her sister so she ignored her alarmed brain while looking for traces of her sister.

Continuing to search, y/n finally found a footprint not too far from her on the other side of the little river, likely belonging to her sister watching the dimension of it, so she set off across the cold water, cursing on how the water made her shiver more as her clothes now were mostly wet, but once reached the other side of the small river she stops in horror at the sight before her.

Yes, her sister footprint was visible but not far away from it another footprint lay fresh, a footprint of a shape and size she had never seen before in her life, she measured its size with her hands seeing how not even her joined hands could match the measure of it.

So big that...this animal could crush her head without effort.

Now pure fear had invaded the girl.

Her sister wasn't the hunter in this scenario, she wasnt hunting, she was being hunted.

She was the prey

Wasting no time and shivering just at the thought of her sister risking her life, y/n ran in search of Naru, she run up to a known buffalo field, her tribe usually used that field to hunt before the winter but she stopped at seeing all the poor animals killed and skinned, but her heads were still on.

I dont think this is the work of that creature, they still have their heads on...so whose killing so much and not even using the meat...

Regretfully y/n started following the creature's footprints again and passing through the trail of dead animals, stopping in front of a poor melted buffalo, not even the meat had been used and judging from the musles and horns it was a young one, strong and healty, she saw that it fought for its life until the end due to the various wounds.
